Congrats on BOTD!
Candy is the book's standout character; despite going through many catastrophes and tragic circumstances, she shows tremendous tenacity and progress. The most difficult parts of the book to read are when she openly faces her traumatic experience with abortion, and readers can't help but root for her.

This book sounds really interesting especially as I was actually born in 1966. The changes in the attitudes to women and their capabilities and contribution to society have been huge during my lifetime, but I believe that the equality we have won thus far is not yet enough. I have downloaded this book and look forward to reading it as from the review I am interested in following Candy’s story and how she manages to fight through so many emotional and physical situations and yet maintain her determination of direction to live her life as she wants and not to just conform to her family’s expectations.

Candy is a trailblazer. It is women like her who have opened many doors for today's girls.

This seems to be a fantastic dramatic read. The use of glass to symbolize Candy's life experiences is genius. I can't wait to read my free copy of this feisty woman's journey to achieve her dreams.

Candy Kryzanowski was determined to do something different, hoping to go to college and break from the traditional 1960s female. Her mother wanted her to get married and have children and follow the tradition: give birth to a daughter in January. Determined to follow her dreams, Candy shatters her mom's dream but the trauma she went through makes her fall into a depression in the process.

I love this storyline. The protagonist being a female is a plus. I’m intrigued to learn if she achieved all her dreams amidst the setbacks she has received.

Candy, in "Against the Glass", is a strong woman. The combination of her resilience and fighting spirit is a driving force to her success. I wish to know if she was able to successfully pursue her career.

It promises to be a thought-provoking work that dives into the obstacles women faced in the 1960s, touching on subjects such as gender roles, reproductive rights, and professional goals. :)

This book is really a clear reflection of what most girl child face out there in the society. Candy was strong character, despite all she was able to give up her pain to purse her dream.

It is sad that women had to go to illegal clinics for abortions, where they could get damaged for life and never be able to have children. Thank you for the review.

Thanks for another thoughtful review. The subject matter of this book is intriguing - a single woman dealing with an abortion in terrible conditions, then being determined to become a doctor in a male-dominated profession. I already like historical fiction and books with strong characters, so I am off to read the sample!

Linda M. Habib's Against the Glass explores many themes of women's struggles, from the decision to get an abortion to the process of becoming pregnant through in vitro fertilization. I'm intrigued by the narrative's analogy of glass used throughout the book and how it mirrors the sense of feeling broken when a woman cannot conceive. The review gives us a stunning summary of the events in the book and the struggles with loss, frustration, and success. I enjoyed the symbolism, such as the powerful husband who breaks the pitcher. This is a book that explores difficult subjects in a creative way. I would like to read Against the Glass. Thank you for the superb review! Congratulations to the author on BOTD!
