A book opening with a man in a body bag?! If that doesn’t grab your attention I don’t know what will! This seems like an incredible yet heart-wrenching story of a second chance. If I could handle books regarding wars I would read it, but they affect me too deeply! Great review and congratulations on BOTD!

I think this book is a powerful and moving memoir that provides a unique perspective on the Vietnam War. DJ Power's writing is both vivid and emotional, and his personal story is one that will stay with readers long after they finish the book. I hope you will enjoy this book.

This is a very detailed and encouraging review. I sampled this book, and although the sample finished at the early point when James was believed to be dead, I agree that it is a masterfully written novel that deserves a grateful audience of fans of military fiction.

I am not usually interested in war books, especially autobiographical or graphic ones. But I cannot imagine what James went through! He literally came back from the dead.

This left me wanting to read the book. James Coleman was shot and woke up in a body bag. As well as separated from his family. I would want to read this book to see how he overcomes these obstacles; on top of having these flashbacks of little pieces of his life. I'd like to see how far he goes from being where he was. I am also interested in seeing if he ever gets to see his family again too. I have so many questions running through my head right now, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to go read all of this book now.

This sounds really interesting. Did he loose his memory or was he disabler? Why was he ordered to leave his family? I'm interested in this. Congrats on BOTD.

Initially, I thought that this book was a memoir based on the title, but it is in fact a novel. It sounds like a very realistic account of what soldiers went through in the Vietnam War. I enjoyed your review.

This is an interesting historical fiction novel highlighting espionage, a debilitating head injury and near death experience, and trying to recover from it. The book is temporarily discounted on Amazon Kindle and has a well-written OnlineBookClub review. Congrats on the BOTD.

As a pacifist, I am solely not interested in war stories, especially ones having anything to do with Vietnam, because even though I might not like to witness the cruelty and violence human beings are able to sink to, I am still capable of understanding the reasons the whole world raised against the Nazis. But to comprehend the geopolitics behind Americans' actions in Vietnam is beyond my understanding.

Having to lie down in a body bag after suffering from his head injury must have taken a toll on James Coleman's emotional and physical health. The author seems to have succeeded in blending fiction with the historical terrors of the Vietnam War. This seems to be a great historical novel, despite the storyline seeming to hold so much suffering for Coleman. Thanks for this well-detailed review!

There is something appealing about Vietnam war for me, and I am a huge fan of historical fiction and the phenomenon of warfare in general and how it affects human psyche is very intriguing also. I also like to experiance war from the soldiers` perspective. I also like your review because it`s not too revealing.

I’m not typically a fan of historical fiction, but this book sounds very intriguing. I can’t even imagine being declared dead and then brought back out of a body bag! That’s crazy. And then to continue on in the line of duty … what a brave, selfless individual that takes!
