Oops...I'll admit it....I judged the book by its cover and figured I didn't want to read it because it appeared to be a romance novel, which isn't my preferred genre. However, after reading your review of today's BOTD, I feel like I cannot wait to see what happens next! I'm already hooked! I love mysteries, and this will be the first I've read that's set in the 19th Century. Thank you so much for the helpful review! Bravo! :-)

❤️The author's writing style is indeed commendable. I appreciate how Mary Ann Trail simplified the prose, making it accessible and easy to follow while still maintaining a sense of authenticity. It's not always easy to strike that balance, but in this case, it really added to the overall enjoyment of the book. I found myself effortlessly drawn into the story and eagerly turning the pages to uncover the next twist and turn. Literally book is very nice👍

🍷 Venturing into 1800s Boston with Captain Jeffrey Chadwick in 'Their Winter Burn' by Mary Ann Trail. Wine, wintry chills, and whispers of secrets - history has never felt this alive. 🍇🌨️ Congratulations on being BOTD!

It is the best book I have ever read,I enjoyed reading your review. I was somewhat disappointed when I read the part where you announced that the book isn't as romantic as it seems on the cover page. Thank you for your review anyway.

Now I am hooked! What a wonderful review and it has me intrigued indeed! I love history and stories that are in and around the 19th century. The Chadwick’s sound like and interesting couple and I’m very curious about their story. It looks like a great read!

Looks like a good pick for fans of historical mystery who have a good attention span for character names and lots of detail.

Hello, thank you for the review! Looking at the cover I thought it was an extremely romantic book. Glad you cleared the air about that. Although I have to say, the dislike you have mentioned intrigues me. I wonder if I would feel the same upon reading it. Also, I'm a sucker for mystery and adventure with a touch of romance thrown in.

It appears that Jeffrey and his wife Georgina have a wonderful relationship and address all events in their lives together. They seem to be caring people, as is evidenced by the extended family that they've acquired during their voyage. Their unconventional entry into their new dwellings in Boston creates suspense and intrigue and will appeal to lovers of crime and suspense novels.

Thank you for the great review.

From the review it appears that it is a mystery book and story is built up on the historical background of that time. While going through the sample pages I could not guess anything but would go through the book may be at a later date to enjoy that mystery fully.
Thank you for a powerful review.

The book gets off to an intriguing start when the characters enter the building, perfect for setting the tone of the mystery. The author has a lovely writing style and in the first few pages, does an excellent job of setting the ambiance for the story to come.

I enjoyed your thoughtful review. I already like historical fiction, so this book is right up my alley! I could do without there being too many unnecessary details in the story, although it's nice to know the characters are interesting.

I liked the vague nature of the book in that they have no idea how to go ahead with what they are to do as they are in a foreign land. I hope to read more of this book and see how their new life in the Americas will turn out. The review is suspenseful and interesting.
