What a fascinating and interesting story, too bad there were so many mistakes but I guess that's because of the writer's lack of experience. Thank you for the review I'm glad you enjoyed the book despite everything

I agree with your review. Well done but could use some editing work.
The story is good overall.

Oh, I have to read this book … thank you, Hsimone, for bringing this to the forum – a good balanced review.
When growing up, I made friends with two brothers who lived in the neighborhood. We were best friends – more like three bothers. Their father was, in many ways, a father to me. He grew up during the Great Depression, and he traveled the U.S. doing any work he could find. A miner, buss driver, busboy to cook, he rode the rails. I would sit for hours and listen to his stories. For him, those times were the best times of his life.
I'll steel myself against any errors I find. This subject is one of my favorites.

Your review is very insightful, thank you for the heads up, the errors won't be so distracting now that I know about them. I really like stories of Americana, a very interesting time period.

Thank you everyone for your comments! The formatting and editing issues can cause issues, but I can honestly say that I wasn't bored by the storyline.

ALynnPowers, maybe you're crazy ;) but I liked the book too for the reasons you mentioned, so maybe that makes me crazy too? :eusa-think: :)

chocomeiske, that's a good point about formatting conversion. Perhaps that was the culprit here. I've notice another book with similar formatting when converting.

Anyway, thank you all for your kind words and taking the time in reading my review! If you do get the book, I hope you enjoy it!

Way to see the good qualities in a book behind some sketchy editing! That's awesome.

Historical fiction is not my favorite genre, but the subject is an interesting one.
I'm very glad you enjoyed it :)

I appreciate the warning about the accidental character name switching, that is always a bit distracting to me.

Very thoughtful and thorough review! I agree, the typesetting was a bit off putting, I suggest better editing to eliminate the grammatical errors, but the story was lovely!
