The difficulty in differentiating between fact and fiction in the book is a major damper for me. The hard-to-follow story line isn’t too much a positive either. I might not be reading this one.

Well-written review though!

This sounds a pure historical fiction. Owing to its qualities I would like to read this good book. Thanks for this excellent review.

I have just recently began to explore and actually enjoy history. The review makes me feel as though this would be a good read to brush up on the Civil War times, but not so much to get wrapped up in the storyline. This review is well written and provides honest, important information to the potential reader!

I was very close to majoring in history in college because I found it that interesting, so this book might be right up my alley. I think the idea of someone trying to stop another civil war sounds cool! Also glad that the author did his research. Thanks for the review.

I loved the bit that I read. And I must say, I love historical fiction so I have a soft spot for the books in this genre, but the author really didn't disappoint.

I'm not a big fun of historical fiction; this book sounds like it would be too much work for me. I'd rather an easier read when I sit down to a book. It would be great if the author would continue to improve their writing because it sounds like they have talent.

Thank you for your encompassing review of The Deserving by Efren O'brien. It appears the author created an interesting historical storyline. I am not much in historical fiction, but people who enjoy the genre could enjoy the book.

Time spent on historical fiction like this book never feels like a waste to me unless the book isn’t put together properly. I like a good storyline but at the same time, I get to learn of a time period that I didn’t know about. It sounds like this one went a little bit more toward the historical part, but that’s why your opinion matters! I’m sure the author would like to know this to make sure there is balance between the two. Your review is fair and points out what sounds to be very good about this one!

I'm glad you enjoyed it quite a bit, but I don't "do" historical fiction, and that some of the story takes place in the military is a major turn-off. Being the genre that it is, I'm not surprised that parts seem "dry". Thanks for the review, though.

Definitely not my kind of book since I have never read any historical fiction book as you say. Moreover, I don't like stories with too many minor characters. Great review.

This isn't the type of book I usually read, but it sounds amazingly complex. It's too bad about the confusion bit.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
