A mild dose of mystery and romance... the reviewer's style is captivating. I would love to read this. 82 chapters seems much but i think i can pull through. Thanks for the review.

It's good a thing that there's a little of romance to spice up the historical fiction. Great review.

Your review was fun to read. I do believe that I may enjoy this historical fiction. Like you, I enjoyed the author's simple and easy style of writing which I quickly picked up from the sample, this is a plus for me. The briefing at the start of each chapter, I thought was a feature which added to my interest in this novel. These elements combined definitely make My Friend Marilyn a book that I will add to my shelves.

I agree with your take on the boo, but I haven't finished yet. Why do you feel the ending was too abrupt? I'm now asking myself if I'll be put off by an unsatisfactory ending, if that's what you maybe meant. Can you elaborate? Thank you for the review

I love a good historical fiction. Penny Parker's character allows the reader to meet Marilyn Monroe and also get a glimpse at Penny's life. I'd read this book as it sounds like an easy, summer day read. Thanks for an interesting review.

Apart from enjoying historical novels, I believe that the early years of the cellulite film industry, and Hollywood, are one of the most glamorous in the history of the world. The lives of the early stars are almost legendary, and Marilyn is no exception to this. I think this romantic fiction of an important part of her life sounds particularly compelling and enjoyable. It sounds as if the novel brings out the romance, but also the theatrical tragedy of that time. Your review conveyed your enjoyment of what is obviously a very good book.

This book is about Marilyn Monroe and anyone and everyone would know who she was. This is one of many documentaries books about Marilyn Monroe that I've read because I read many already.

Penny Parker is a victim of bullying and a dysfunctional family. When she has the chance of meeting Marilyn Monroe, her life changes forever. Fans of historical fiction with a dose of mystery and romance will definitely love this book. Thanks for your review!

I don't like historical fiction so I'll pass on this one. I'm sure other readers will find it very engaging though.

Your comments about this not being just another story about Marilyn Monroe was good news. I like the setting, too, so I may give this one a try.

My first reaction to this book was "I don't like Marilyn Monroe as an actress or as a person, so I won't like this book." But the book isn't about Marilyn Monroe. It is a great story about a girl who wins a contest to be Marilyn's "Girl Friday" while she is in town shooting a movie. I read the entire sample on Amazon which was fairly long and I really enjoyed it. Thank you for the great review!
