"Kuimba" sounds like a nice laid-back book - one to read on a snowy winter's day beside the fireplace. And yet there is much to learn and garner from its pages. What a wonderful review of a book that will be at the top of my TBR shelf. Its spirituality seems to transcend the book itself. Looking forward to digging into it! Congrats on the review, and on BOTD!

I would not have minded a little less history and a little more about the book itself.

It's interesting to know that the events recounted in this intriguing historical fiction novel occurred around World War 1. Its good character development, slow pace, and unhurried tempo surely make for an interesting read. Thanks for an informed review.

I would agree that this is an outstanding book, for all the reasons the reviewer mentioned. Learning about the life of African Americans about forty years after they were liberated from slavery is a bonus, the mainstream of the book being miracles, how they happened and how they were experienced in such a community, by the good and by the wicked. A great review of a fascinating book. Thank you!

The book kuimbi sounds interesting in that it carries a notion of slavery and intermarriages or cross bridging maybe that used to exist amongst Americans and Afro-Americans... It's a good book for also Historians in widening a lamp of historical knowledge...

I tend to like stories that explore deep subjects like history and slavery. This one intrigued me a lot because of the highly detailed review.

The plot premise is undoubtedly intriguing, and I am curious to know the significance of the blue-eyed boy’s arrival. Thanks for sharing.

It's an interesting idea to set a historical fiction novel in WW1 times without talking about the war directly. Great review!

Thanks Espie. I read the sample, I was intrigued by the author's writing style. It sounds like an interesting book. You seem to have enjoyed it despite a slow pace. It has an other-worldly sound to it. Thanks again for the review.

I read the sample on Amazon and I really loved the writing. From the sample, it showed so much hope in an era of difficult times. It's definitely on my reading list.
