Elizabeth McCourt battled against every possible odd to stand for her right in the times when there was little or no regard for women's rights is such an exceptional example to follow, nice review and congrats on BOTD.

The book seems interesting and exciting as the author added some fictional dialogues to the actual true facts to make the book more "readable". It tells the story of a strong-willed woman, not a typical damsel of that time, who didn't hesitate and was never afraid to stand her ground when it was her happiness and well-being on the table. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

This sounds like a remarkable story of how far women have come and a reminder to be grateful for what we have and what we are able to do. Thank you for your review. You have made this book very appealing to me.

Baby Doe is a determined character. She knows she is not just working for herself so she can't sit and let her family suffer because her husband is lazy. I enjoyed reading this review. Kudos!

This historical fiction about a strong woman who was abandoned while pregnant in the 1800s will surely be enjoyed by many. Thank you for your review.

I like historical fiction and this novel is a very good example, based on a true story about a wonderful woman, a feminist before the invention of the word. The review sums up the most important parts of the plot and the main traits of the protagonist. Inspirational!

Elizabeth is really a strong and kindhearted woman, as she stood her ground and decided to divorce Harvey and not accept him back for abandoning her and making her lose her baby, and despite the fact that she was disowned by her parents for the act, she still catered for their needs by sending them money. Congratulations on BOTD!

Oh my, this truly sounds interesting. A woman working in a mine and standing her ground during the era when women had practically no rights. Knowing that she was a real person adds my interest in this historical fiction story. I would have loved to meet the real Baby Doe! Thank you for the lovely review!

The premise of this book didn't give me a hint of why the book had that title. However, I hope to get the details when I read it.

The society makes women look less important because of the attributes given to them and even the duties they are given is not different from being a slave or property. It is good the the society is getting better with the way they treat women with even more women on high social ladder.

I like that this book exhibited the strength of a woman. It is a beautifully written historical fiction novel that can be uplifting for women. It is a book that inspired and is definitely worth the read.

A good book can always make the reader believe what he/she is reading is real and true(even if it isn't), but a book based on a true story has real and true events happening so it isn't difficult to believe it, like this one.
It was interesting to me to see how few rights women had in the 1800s. A woman wasn’t supposed to work. She was expected to keep the home, attend social functions and do everything her husband asked. A man could be unfaithful, and the woman was supposed to just accept it. She had no rights and no respect. Baby Doe was a rebel in her time. She fought for her own rights and financial security.
- Baby Doe was a strong woman in the days of old, when everything and everyone was against her and that is even encouragement for the modern woman. This review does justice to the book. Thank you so much.

Not exactly what I expected selecting to read this book, but non the less quiet interesting and good. The story is definitely excellent from a historical point of view for comparison modern social tendencies with the past. Prime example, I hardly believe that something as simple as divorce can turn someone to pariah. Congratulations on BOTD!
