This historical fiction effort sounds important and intense. I know very little about Polish history, and this might be educational for me. The torture is important to be aware of, but I'm not sure I can go there right now. Thanks for the great review.

Great job with the review! I enjoy historical fiction and appreciate authors who are detailed and can bring historical periods to life. This author seems like he did just that. I look forward to reading this book.

Such a heroic grandfather. I love that he prepared his grand daughter for the times ahead. I'm also entranced by this historical fiction book that has a root in the true events that happened.

This is an intriguing review, and this book makes a clear telling and description of what we have partly watched in movies!

This seems a novel with dark tones digging into very tragic events of our recent history. I see that there are some twists in the story, and that makes it even more interesting. Thank you for your great review!

This book in particular has piqued my interest. I haven't read so much about Nazi camps and torturing of the Jews. I will be glad to learn more about it. And the characters of Grandpappy and Brygida have captured my heart. Congrats on BOTD!

This book seems like a pretty heavy read! Would like to see how it goes.

A gripping historical fiction novel "Chameleons" by Martin Wyatt, which portrays Nazi's invasion era in Poland, and the torture of Jews by Germans. The story follows an entomologist in his seventies, Harran, who predicts a looming evil in the future of Jewish people. The story appears quite appealing to me.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Awesome review. Religion and history has always had such a tense relationship. I am glad to see the author portray this.

Yours is a comprehensive review of a novel that I will probably not read. Credible characters, good narrative, and good research of a terrible period in history, I feel bad about not being able to enjoy them. It is the excessive cruelty that I cannot make myself read. I feel terribly sorry for those who suffered and died from it, I hope it never happens again.

A book that seems to pull you in with its gripping plot. The Jewish people face a threat from Germany, you can even feel the tension in the air, as they try to better their odds at survival.

I love historical books, particularly those based on WWII stories and such. This is an interesting take on the infamous Nazis...This time in Poland. This is a definite must read.

Thank you Frazzier for the review.  When I read the part about the birth of the twins in the free sample, I knew I could not read this book.  At least not right now.  I know it would have a profoundly disturbing effect on me.  Applause for your bringing the truth to light.  Congrats on BOTD.

The Germans wanted to eliminate the Jews from the face of the Earth. Consequently, there were many deaths and suffering. It is a good historical book. Thanks for the review.
