I am an all round reader. I can read any good book and learn from it. I love books with information and knowledge. This book is emotional, sensitive and knowledgeable at the same time. I think the book is a must read. Thanks for the great review.

Single parenting is not easy and the painful aspect is when the mother or father is around yet do not give hand to the other parent to raise the kids harmoniously so in the childrens case they should not be blamed for how they treated by their father as mentioned earlier " I don’t blame Jacob and Heschel for doing what they did to their father, Max, because he never treated them like his children" above. However Jacob did well by not allowing the bad father he or they had to affect him rather he grew to be a better person to himself, his brother and society as a whole reason he was loved and appreciated everywhere he went. Indeed the story has strong positive effect that one can learn from. Great review.

I love historical fiction and tough I do love suspense I don't think it's crucial to this genre. And this book seems like a great way to learn more about the Jewish culture.
Great job!

Thank you for your review. I read the sample on Amazon before reading your review. This novel teaches us a lot about human cultures and we behave as we face life's challenges. The story flow is such that the reader feels connected to the protagonist and thus can share the emotions a little better.

I am OK with your comment about the author revealing what was to happen as a kind of spoiler alert. I think the author's intention is to establish a mark and then take the reader through the process of how that mark was reached.

This is a technique used in ancient Chinese mystery stories. The guilty parties are identified quite early but the focus is on how the dastardly deeds were committed. The challenge to the reader was to figure it out as the story unravels.

After this review, you've certainly made me curious about the hurtful and shameful thing that happened to him. Max certainly made a poor excuse for a father, I'm happy that both children turned okay. Thanks for the honest review.

Omg poor Jacob. This story just goes to show that just because you have the wherewithal does not mean you will be good parents. I'm not sure I could read this but thanks for the great review 👍

Jacob had such a challenging childhood. But he overcame the obstacles and became a respected adult who provided much more for his family than he ever received. I wonder how he gets revenge on his childhood attacker. Two thumbs up for the book review and congratulations to Shirley B. Novack!

Because historical fiction brings stories to life, I enjoy it, and this book sounds like it will take me on an emotional journey. I would enjoy reading that.

I have been sucked into this book through the sample I read and this review. The style of the author's writing is intriguing. I want to find out what happens next with Jacob and this stranger, his father and his brother.

This sounds like an emotional and well-written book. The best historical fiction contains real events, or at least references to them, that are organic and accurate, and this book seems to achieve that. Thank you for the helpful review.

I read a few chapters, and I don't think that this book is for me. It just didn't grab my interest, and I'm not much of a fan of romances. However, I'd like to congratulate Ms. Novack on her achievement and BOTD.

The Story Of... by Shirley B Novack tells the story of two children who managed to survive through life without parental love and care. The book is an emotional one and is worth reading.

I think this is a great book so far, I have read the sample even though the genre is not my type. The writing style of this book is mind-blowing.
