I love adventure books but I don't like historical novels, I'm still on the fence about this book. Nice review though.

Oh this sounds like an interesting and exciting story. I wonder what has led him to this point, why he is on the SS China, what he plans to do and how his plans work out.

Thanks!

I started reading this book and although it is a historical fiction, I was totally captivated by the writing style of the author. I must give this one a read for the future. It appears to be full of adventure and thrills. Thank you for your splendid review.

This book seems very interesting! Billy's journey to the "Mysterious Orient" seems like something that I would enjoy, though I am slightly concerned about the inaccuracies you pointed out. However, it still seems to be very intriguing, and historical fiction books are my favorite kind of books. Thank you for your review!

I'm not a great fan of historical fiction but this book sounds very, very interesting. The main charachter has a whole lot of adventures: meeting dangerous people, agents, pirates, being involved in an anti-French and anti-American insurgency and then Spanish-American war. And according to the review the description of different setting in the book is so detailed and extensive that you want to read the book to know more about them. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

The book may relates to the historical real events in the other part of the countries. I find it difficult to read at first because its part 1 book must be connected to it that why i must read it as well. This has amazing narration in every part of the story.

I do enjoy a good historical fiction, and I haven't read much about sailing at the turn of the last century. Could be interesting, thanks for the revivew!

Great review. I think books set in the Orient are fascinating, with its ancient culture and folklore. Your review makes me want to check this book out.

Enjoyed the comprehensive review and reading the first 3 chapters of this book. I like reading historical fiction especially when it is in other parts of the world. I am looking forward to finding out how and if Billy will be able to help the widow he has met aboard ship.

This sounds like my kind of book, historical fiction! The genre and your obvious enthusiasm put this on my list of "want to reads." Thank you for a well-written, thoughtful review. You had me at the word "irresistible," lol! :D
