Anything positive is celebrated in this place even if it means something else on the other end. The story is reek of passion with men taking their destinies in their own hands. The review on the other end makes it simpler to build up the interest.

On the basis of everything in the review, this must be set in Northern Ireland, not Ireland. It does sound like it has a compelling plot with the conflict taking place in Joe's heart and the entrenched historical conflict around him.
This post was brought to you by the word "specifically".

Easy book to read but laced with enough history and intrigue to keep me reading intently. The author appears to have some boating experience, which helps with the realism, and moves the story along nicely. I enjoyed the contrast between Joe's prior experiences and his current situation. I, also, liked how he author introduces us to Joe's past in bits and pieces, which kept me intrigued to learn more about him. This is a book I would enjoy to finish reading!

I know almost nothing about Ireland. Looks like this book might help.

I don't know very much about Ireland, past or present. I suppose this book would amend that. This book also seems full of spies, romance, and religion.

I read the sample pages of this one today, and your review pretty much summed up what I read. The storyline of this one seems slow to me. Like you, I know of Ireland’s unrest from history classes long ago. I felt like the interaction between Fiona and Joe seemed unnatural as well, and as you stated in your review, that is exactly what I was thinking as I read those scenes. Thanks for the insightful review. I just don’t think this book will hold my interest.

I definitely am interested in the Irish history and I would like to read about undercover agents. It might annoy me to read about the love story if you say that Joe is acting like a teenager in Fiona's presence.

I know very little about the history of Ireland, and would be very interested to check out this book to see how events of the past have echos into the future, affecting the lives and culture of people in a small town. The relationship between Joe and Fiona and the woman he left back home also sound very complicated, and I wonder how that will situation will disentangle itself! Fantastic review!

Having just read the sample, I think this reviewer's take on the book sounds very accurate (just from what I read so far). I love books that deal with political and religious conflicts in other countries, past or present, and this ones sounds like an interesting read. I agree with the reviewer that the Joe's reactions to Fiona seem a bit juvenile for a man in his late 40's, but the rest seemed pretty realistic, which I appreciate. I would definitely read more based on the sample and on this review.

I agree with your review. The sample was informative about Irish history but not boring. The culture aspect felt authentic as well. This sounds like a good read indeed.

It sounds like a book that has something for everyone. Ireland is an interesting country. I love that there is character development and the realization that revenge is seldom the answer.

Wow, I have virtually no knowledge of the conflicts Irish people face. After reading the sample, which personally didn't hold my interest, I'm not sure I will continue to read. However, it would make great research in my free time to delve into the issues occurring in Ireland.

I’m not really interested in the history genre, I like something a little more personal in my reading. It sounds interesting for anyone wanting to learn more about Ireland’s past though. Thanks for your review.

Well written review, which gives a full idea about the content of the book. I am not a fan of books that talk much about human relationships as I think they are boring. So I will pass by this. Anyway congratulations for being BOTD 👍👍
