I also thought the book would be about the life of Marilyn Monroe, but finding it's about Penny is just as exciting. This is the type of historical fiction novel I have been looking for. Thank you for the review.

I expected the book to be centered on Marilyn. I love historical fiction, and this sounds like an interesting read, although, 82 chapters is quite too much. Thanks for the review.

The book sounds like a feel-good story. I sorely need one now. I especially like the blend of mystery and romance.

After reading this review; I didn't hesitate to add this title to my "want to read" bookshelf. I've lived in Southern California all my life and have been to Hotel Del Coronado several times. It's a fascinating destination! So; this tale, it's characters, sprinkled with Hollywood royalty (Marilyn), and set in a venue as grand and rich with history as this is... well; it's a no brainer. This was an interesting and enjoyable review and this is a story I want to read.

Some will consider it blasphemy, but I am not big fan of Marilyn Monroe and therefore I don't feel obligated to study any new book, movie or anything else just because her name is mentioned once again. No offense, but this poor dear didn't know peace in life, is it really that necessary to disturb her rest after death?

Such a fascinating review! I'm disappointed to find out that Marilyn is not the protagonist in this one; nonetheless, this fictitious read seems intriguing!

I also like books that its chapters start with headings on time and location. Thanks a lot for the insightful and detailed review.

The unique perspective that Penny brings to the book makes this book appealing. The title and the cover make readers think the book is about Marilyn. Your summary clarifies that readers will be hearing Penny's voice. Thanks for this great informative and compelling review.

I would have guessed the story would majorly be about Marilyn Monroe, with her as the main character but I was surprised when it wasn't, considering the title. It sounds like a good, worthwhile read.

That's neat that the author prefaces each chapter with some historical details. It kind of gives a fictional story the patina of truth and reality. Thanks for your review!

Thank you for your review. I thought the book was about the fabulous Marilyn Monroe. But after reading your review, it is not! What a star she was, so I’ll think about this one!

From the book’s title, I was not expecting an historical fiction novel. I like the idea of the main character, Penny, being an assistant to Marilyn Monroe. I enjoyed some of his humor, particularly the last couple of paragraphs of chapter 9, which was an amusing reference to the movie, ‘Some like it Hot’. Thanks for the good review.

Historical fiction is not my cup of tea. But having read the review I see that the book is not entirely historical and has a dose of mystery and romance revolving around Penny and her life instead of Marilin's. So maybe I'll give the book a try. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!
