When I first saw the title of the book, I knew that it would be a good book. The name itself gives off a mysterious and and adventurous vibe. From your review, I can see that the book is of historical genre. The protagonist is a courageous woman who risked her life to save people from the of the Germans.
This is a great story which I am very much interested to read and already have in my bookshelf.
I appreciate your review on the book. Thanks for the great review. :tiphat:

I don’t think I’ll be reading this historical novel set during world war 2, mainly because I don’t enjoy reading about wars and the part you mentioned about the father’s story being repeated a lot would drive me bananas.

I am not a huge fan of historical fiction but "Code Name Lily" by Julien Ayotte sounds interesting.

Great review! I am a historical fiction fan, but I'm not sure if I will be reading this one. I'm sure knowing nothing about your father until the age of 70 and then learning he was a war hero would be something you would want to tell over and over again. However, I don't like a lot of repetition when I'm reading. It does sound like an exciting story. I'm still trying to decide, but thanks for a thorough and insightful analysis!

I'm always interested in the stories of ww2. And specially about Nazis. And this story seems unique to me because this runs on two time lines and also the book contains events and characters that happened in real life. As a historical fiction lover I would surely grab a copy for myself.Thank for an awesome recommendation and a great review.

I love that Lily is so selfless and brave. This historical fiction interests me because the plot and the period of history in which it is set makes the readers think about life in such a time. It sounds full of action and suspense. Excellent review!

Not really my preferred type of reading material, because I don't enjoy war stories as a whole and WWII in particular, since I believe it was times of humans at their worst with Holocaust and CC. Sorry, but I won't read this book. Congrats on being book of the day all the same!

Thanks for the review, I love historical fiction and that this one focusses on an aspect of WW II that is less known is a bonus. I bought the book and can't wait to read it.

Thank you for the detailed review! While I understand that historical fiction, and wars especially, are not favored by everyone, I find stories like this to be encouraging that there was still good people who acted in bad times. It sounds like Ayotte brings a fresh perspective to WWII history that I am much more willing to learn about in story form rather than a text book as it allows the audience to relate better to the historical figures. I will definitely be adding this to my list of books to read.

Although I enjoy historical fiction, war-time stories are not my preferred era. This does sound like a good read though and I'm glad you liked it. Thank you for your review.
