The story of Baby Doe is fascinating, what a brave woman, particularly because this is happening in the years 1800. She stood her ground and fought for a better life, not letting the man in her life nor the society and their 'rules' dictate her life. I will add this book to my shelves. Thank you for the review.

What a heart-wrenching story and what a remarkable woman. To stay strong facing adversities like her husband abandoning her and her losing her baby makes her such an incredible example of female strength. The fact that she continued to provide money to her family after they disowned her just makes her such a shining example of love and courage to do what she believed in.

Thank you for the great review of this beautiful novel! :tiphat: :techie-studyingbrown:

 Baby doe was a strong willed lady. She did right by herself despite it going against the norms of the society like divorcing her cheating husband. She shows us that we should never turn away from family and we should work hard to achieve our goals in life.

Interesting review. How Baby Doe managed to live at that period without her husband would be fascinating to me. Congrats for winning BOTD.

When I first started reading the review my interest was piqued, I love reading stories about strong, independent women. When I realised its based on a real person, I was entirely captured. I look forward to finding out more about Baby Doe and her trail blazing life. She is definitely an inspiration and I am so glad for books such as these that make me aware of such amazing people I'd have never known about otherwise.

This is an inspirational historical fiction book about the life of Baby Doe Tabor. She led an atypical life during the Gold Rush. I am very interested to keep reading this captivating story. Rebecca Rosenberg is a talented author. Thank you for the thorough, enticing book review, Jsovermyer.

A good book can always make the reader believe what he/she is reading is real and true(even if it isn't), but a book based on a true story has real and true events happening so it isn't difficult to believe it, like this one.

While I really do appreciate the things that Baby went through and the paths that she carved, I like neither historical fiction nor biographies.
