This seems like a very fascinating tale – I'm really curious to hear the author's take on the impacts of war on generations of a single family. However, I hope his wife wasn't too put off by Treat's deception. Thanks for the great review!

Historical fiction isn't a genre that I like much. The #BOTD focuses on the war effects on America. War is almost always politically charged and it costs the lives of the American people. Good review.

A historical fiction with detailed and compelling narratives. War stories are always very impactful and surreal, there are so many direct and indirect unpleasant effects of war. It is a sad reality. Congratulations on the BOTD.

Beautiful review. My interest is piqued on knowing more about the Paine's and that's a propelling factor that makes me want to read this book.

My curiosity initially was piqued by the name of the book. But I like too that the story unfolds as a result of a trigger that takes the protagonist on a trip down memory lane, causing him to bare a hidden past to his wife. And, I don't mind the detailed narratives, definitely adding this one to my shelves. Thanks for the great review!

A family saga where secret strives. Imagine a wife not knowing if her mother in law is truly dead. Seen wars(WWIi) and unseen wars. Thank you for your detailed review.

Although I'm not particularly into historical fiction or books concerning war, I do enjoy books written in the style of a diary. Based solely on that aspect, and from reading the sample, of course, I may give this one a look. Thanks for the recommendation.

No matter what, war has its impacts on the people involved. Both negative and positive. The Wars Among The Paines by John M. Miller seems like an amazing historical fiction. I can't wait to read it. Congratulations on the BOTD. Great review!

I really like the fact that the book talks about the effects of war on individual lives. I have often wondered, what is it really that a people of a nation want to quarrel with another nation? It baffles me because you meet a person you never knew and never quarrel before but you have to hate him/her to the extent of killing him/her. Nice book. Congrats to the author.

I think this book will help us understand what causes conflicts and wars and thus, hopefully, we can minimise and eliminate their occurrences.
Thanks for this wonderful review :tiphat:

This review was so well done that I would love to see how this book ends. I am not a lover of war fiction, however, the style of the narrative is very appealing and I have added this book to my bookshelf. Thanks for an engaging review!
