By Fate, Malino defiled death at childhood and lived. I will read to see what she became in life. This book is a good any day.

Human history has many stories about people who are thought to be a curse. Most of times, the fate of these people is not very good. I hope Malino's destiny will be better.

Thank you for being honest in your review about the graphic nature of this book. I am not a reader who enjoys these types of descriptions, so I will likely be skipping this book. Slavery was a very brutal practice in the United States, and I appreciate how the author created a realistic portrayal of what this life was like for Malino. I hope that he achieves the happiness and fulfillment every human being deserves. :)

I concur with the reviewer that someone might want to do something that would be obvious as dishonourable under normal circumstances after carefully examining the sample. Even though the story's plot seems intriguing, some of the content is not appealing to me. I appreciate your wonderful review.

Well you intrigated me, the book looks interesting and full of strange scenes, luckly I know italian so I think that the errors would not affect me. The thing that attracted me in the review is the Malino boy.

I am avoiding sad reads these days, so Malino and I may not meet soon. It is abominable to treat newborns in that manner. Malino suffered greatly indeed. I actually did a double-take when I read the title. We are almost namesakes!

I’m intrigued at Grillo’s character so I’m looking forward to digging into this book to find out how Malino will affect and change his life. Mystery books are a treasure to read and this one is right up my alley.

The above quotes from the review keep me from wanting to read the book. I am, as she said, a sensitive reader and read for escapism. Thank you for the great review. It enlightened me on the book and made me aware of the things I would not enjoy. I think you were able to articulate your views well.

I am very sorry to say, but I won't read this book. I don't mean an offense, reviewer done excellent work describing storyline and all fine points, but the topic is heavy and emotionally I simply can't find it in myself to read about it. Anyway, such stories must be written to never repeat so congrats with BOTD!

From what I understand the book has incredible character development. I love the themes that seem to be throughout the book. I can't imagine what Malino goes through.

I hope Malino doesn't make Grillo regret saving him. The plotline of this book draws me in, but the sexual content puts me off a bit. All the same, if I get the chance I'll read it. Good review
