Definitely not my cup of tea, because I never understood how anything could be useful in reading the retelling of some stranger's journey of self-discovery. Then again, I am well rooted, knowing my ancestors, so maybe I don't know what I say. Congrats with BOTD!

I can imagine how tough it must be for Genevieve to fit in Colonial Laos being half French and half Lao.

Thank you for the great review.

'It is a compelling narrative that revolves around the life of Geneviève Dubois, a young woman of French and Lao descent (or métis), who embarks on a journey of self-discovery, identity and belonging after leaving an orphanage in Vientiane, Laos.'
I don't mind joining Geneviève in her journey.

I'm not particularly fond of the histories of Asian countries or romance novels, but this book seems very interesting, probably because of the excellent review. I may have to check it out.

Congratulations on a great review. I am reading the book and I am enthralled by this 18 year old girl. I haven't reached the part about her falling in love with the prince yet, but now that I know romance awaits our protagonist, I'm sure I'll be hooked.
