I enjoy historical fiction and this sounds like a novel I could read. I have not read anything about the rubber 'boom' so I think I would learn something along with reading a novel of these two brothers!

This seems to be another intriguing historical novel that I should read. I would love to know what happened to Jack and Bax adventure with so many hardships on their way. Thanks for your fulfilling review. As a reviewer, I feel challenged. Congratulations to the author.

I'm such a fan of historical fiction because I'm such a fan of history. I like that this book is a bit different from what I'm used to reading. It's based in South American around the new industry of taping rubber trees. That's so cool. The only draw back is that I'm more into Happily Ever After (HEA) endings. At least if the book doesn't have a HEA ending then it's not all doom and gloom since the author inserts moments of laughter. I can understand that. I'm the person that laughs at times of danger not because I'm brave but because of the irony or the pure stupidity of the situation. Great review. The book sounds great! 🍍

I want to read this book but I'm afraid the title explains the ending. I need a happy ending.

:) Historical fiction is usually a no-go for me; but this sounds fascinating! I am excited to add this one to my to-do list!

This historical fiction set during the rubber boom era seems interesting. Adequate description of scenaries and tragicomedy, et cetera, means this book is well-written too. I've just read its sample and I'm thinking of reading the whole of it, thanks to this wonderful review. Thanks you!

I like that the novel is set in South America, but I am not sure the level of violence of the story is for me. I will check the sample pages. Thanks for the review!

"A fictionalized account" which inspires the reader to do some research deserves the 4 stars. This review has heightened my interest in this book.

Historical fiction from this era has always interested me. So excited to read this, as it's about the rubber boom, which I didn't even know was a thing at that time. So interesting!

I usually avoid historical writings as they are usually boring and myself as a reader like a little more action. However, this book is among a few others that have peaked my interest in the historical section. I will definitely be looking more into this book and adding it to my to-read list. Good job on an amazing review.

I'm a fan of historical fiction and adventure but this still doesn't sound like my style. The writing style and portrayal of characters may be enough to convince me but I think I'll wait a bit before picking it up.

An interesting adventure novel "Before We Died" by Joan Schweighardt, which takes us on an unforgettable expedition of Jack and Bax, who are seeking adventure in South America with a hope of making a fortune by rubber tapping in its jungle.

I’m a little torn on this one. I think that I could learn a lot from this book. It sounds pretty interesting, but I don’t usually like historical fiction. Either way, thanks for the review and congrats on being BOTD!
