I love historical fiction and Greg Kater is a master at this genre. I have read the second book and currently reading the third book in the trilogy. This book sounds action packed and I have to say the location is a great draw for me too. Definitely adding this to my reading list. Thanks for the insight review.

Historical fiction meshed with espionage, that must sich a great combo and so hard to write. I would love to try this novel. I also wished there were more female characters in this type of novels, but in a world dominated by men's politics, well... Great review.

I love it when authors manage to include true details into their historical fiction - it adds a layer of realism that can't be achieved really any other way. Like you, I wish there were more female characters, but I can't fault the author for that. Thank you for your review.

A historical novel "Conflict on the Yangtze" by Greg Kater abounds in lots of action, adventure, and suspense. The story revolves around Jamie and Jacko who understand that
one of their operatives in China is lost , they join the investigation into the illegal territory of opium smugglers. This book seems to be quite interesting to read.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I love historical fiction so I like that the author managed to write about the history realistically. Not all books can do this well - sometimes it feels like you're not actually there in the history itself. I also like that the book is also a thriller. I'm not so keen on the fact that Carna speak a lot of spanish words and phrases. Whenever books do this, I get confused about what they're saying and I feel like I missed out on a part of the story.

Very informative review. I know barely anything about the history and culture of Asian countries. Your review helped me to have a view, that this book would make the time of learning some history very entertaining. Thank you!

I am a fan of Chinese stories that give new context to different historical periods. This sounds like an interesting story. The variety of characters is a huge benefit as well, though I'd agree that I generally need more interesting female characters to keep my attention. Still, a lack of good female characters doesn't necessarily mean something doesn't interest me. I'll keep this one in mind. Thanks for your review!

I must say that I find cristinaro’s review of Conflict on the Yangtze by Greg Kater excellent. It shows that she really liked the book and she gives all the right reasons for other readers to love it too.
The context, time and space frames, characters and the thread of action are all briefly described, along with the other benefits one gets in reading the novel, such as insights into the historical situation at the end of World War II in China, the cultural aspects of the people who take part in the action, they belonging to an array of cultural origins, and, of course, geographic description of exotic areas. I was very happy to find that my old friends from the previous novels of the series are the main actors of this one too, also by the kind care of cristinaro.
She also identifies the kind of readers who would appreciate the book.
I really enjoyed reading the review as I am sure I will also do reading the book itself.

I do like the Waramunga trilogy yet I feel that the missions are repetitive in more ways than one. Therefore I do not see myself wanting to read this particular book.

The book sounds interesting, the author really did a great work researching. It seems to be a skillful blending of suspense, history, descriptions of nature and culture (customs and traditions, cuisine, languages). It will be interesting to read this book. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!
