Grandpappy Haran sounds cool, and so does his granddaughter Brygida. The Nazi's invasion in Poland is something I would love to read about. Therefore, the book is a must-read for me. Thanks for the insightful review.

Although it's a work of fiction, I guess it's a good starting point to discover the history of the European Jews and how they became victims of Nazi persecution during the Holocaust.
I would love to read the book but the emotional aspect attached to the torture they underwent might be too overwhelming to fathom.
It's nice to learn that the author has done a tremendous job in creating a precise depiction of the concentration camps so to bring to life the holocaust.
Great and informative review.

Historical fiction is not my kind. But reading about Jews and Nazis seems to be interesting.

This sounds like a very fascinating book about a period in time that I find fascinating. It is always interesting to me to read about how humans are capable of inflicting such suffering and horror on fellow humans. This sounds like an absorbing tale, and I am also fascinated to wonder how an entomologist fits into this as a major protagonist! I enjoyed your review which discussed the book at some length.

I don't like history books but this particular one got me. Getting to know more about the Jews and the Nazism invasion era in Poland. I would love to read this book so I can know why Grandpappy chose Brygida and not Mysz and how much she was able to learn as well. Thanks for the detailed review.

I am really sorry to say that I will have to pass this book no matter how very good it sounds in description given in review. Unfortunately, anything even vaguely related to horrors of the Holocaust never will be my choice reading material. Non the less, congrats on well deserved BOTD!

It sounds like a lot was incorporated into the novel, I doubt I'd ever have the patience to write a historical fiction.

Your review helped me to understand if this was historical fiction or fantasy. I don't think I can tolerate the "graphic torture" scenes, so thanks for the warning.
