I read the sample provided on Amazon. I consider the subject of gold mining not interesting enough for me. That changed after I read the sample. I loved the names given to the characters and how the author introduced each of the second five. I could tell that the writing ability of this author could probably keep my attention no matter the subject. I may put this one on my shelf. The review is awesome. It’s nice to hear that true focus of the book is not the gold but rather a lesson in golden values.

The Gold Rush indeed lured a lot of adventurers. I wonder how Nothing Brown and his friends fared, considering the fierce competition. The dog and the lady on the cover tell me the men don't dominate the story. This could be interesting.

'Official Review: The Second Five' by Raymond Maher vividly describes the story of the book for readers. It details the main points of the story for curious readers. The point that the book describes a multitude of ambitious miners involved in acquiring easy wealth through digging gold is worth mentioning in the review. Also, as mentioned in the review, the point that the author's work includes wilderness adventures like fur trading, canoe river travel, and camping strategies, especially in making tasty meals, cleaning, and hunting animals for food is remarkable for readers. It was great to learn that the story is an action-filled novel with a historical background of the gold rush in British Columbia, Canada!

The plot with the five characters and their search for gold sounds like a good read. The valuable lessons beyond gold which are trust, friendship, and gratitude, highlights life's importance over gold.

I don't think I would be interested in this book, what I have read so far doesn't pique my attention. I don't think it is a terrible book though, it just doesn't seem like my kind of book.

I’m looking forward to digging into this novel to find out how the lives of the five main characters will be affected and changed as they search for gold. Will they succeed? How will this change the different roles they play in their community and relationships they have in their journey?

"The Second Five" by Raymond Maher seems to be an interesting book with a dose of things to discover. I will read to know if the five friends succeeded in their good search despite the death of the Faro dealer.

An entertaining book with a glimpse into the fascinating history of the gold rush that also teach life lessons. The theme of companionship and adventure make this storymore than just a hunt for gold. the intricate dynamic of relationship about males showing affection to one another is wholesome. This all sound worth reading. Thank you for an excellent review.

I read the sample before I read your review. I liked the sample, but it is not a book for me. The review was well written but a little confusing. The last two paragraphs are great. Thanks for you time.

The review is quite detailed and well written, however, in my humble opinion and not wanting to upset anyone, I find the review reveals too many plot details, which could ruin the surprise and suspense for potential readers.

I found the names of the characters so hilarious, especially Nothing Brown and Mean Michael.
It seems the author infused valuable lessons in this action-filled adventure.
Congrats on the BOTD.

A book of five men in the gold rush. The intro stresses how this is both a sequel and a standalone book, but in doing so there is a lot of focus on telling what is different which was annoying - you either know what happened previously or are not interested.
