I'm not a huge American historian so when I come across books that details historic events, while incorporating a fictional, yet compelling story, I'm open to getting it. I cannot wait to get this book and digest all this information that's a crucial part in America's history. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

I think it's great that the author wove in some real-life historical facts, like including Presidents Jefferson and Lincoln to the narrative, to add to this book's credibility regarding history and the Dakota Sioux War. However, I'm not a fan of historical fiction, so I'll pass on this book.

The author skillfully intertwines historical events with fictional characters, creating a vivid and engaging narrative that brings the complexities of American history to life. The depiction of Chief Little Crow, the Dakota Sioux War, and the resilience of the Lindquist family highlights the nuanced struggles of both settlers and Native Americans during a tumultuous period. Nice review.

The combination of real historical events with fictional characters seems to bring this critical period in American history to life. I'm particularly drawn to the character Julia, who sounds like a beacon of empathy and compassion amidst the chaos. The book’s attention to historical detail and the portrayal of both settlers and Native Americans make it sound like a powerful read.

A well-written historical fiction novel should bring the setting and characters to life. The book might use vivid descriptions to transport readers back to 1862 Minnesota.

I am not an American and therefore have little to none interest in American history, even if it is "during a crucial period". I do admire how proud they are of their presidents and, while more often than not, it is all about Abraham Lincoln, I heard more than enough about Thomas Jefferson as well. Apologies, I prefer to pass the book, but still congrats on BOTD!
