I am curious to learn about President Truman's strategy for dealing with Hitler. While this topic may not typically align with my interests, I am confident that it would greatly appeal to history enthusiasts.

Quite interesting historical fiction story following Harry Truman strategy against Adolf Hitler can be found by reading the book "The Last Rival" by Kyle Palmer. The book appears interesting to read and stay glued.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I don't usually read this kind of genre, but it definitely sounds interesting, especially trying to "guess" which parts of the story are based on real events/decisions president Truman made and which ones are false (I'm assuming at least some of the book must be based in reality to make sense), so that might be fun!

This review of The Last Rival is an interesting one that piqued my interest. I like how the reviewer concisely wrote what this book is about. I also like how detailed the review is, making me want to read it, such as the secret operations and the historical element. I mean, I like history and I'd like to read this book.

This is such a great review about a Historical Fiction book, take note, Fiction. When I read my first book in the same genre, I was totally fooled that I googled everything that happened :lol2: Now, I will add this in my TBR because this review got me hooked to read historical fiction again.

Great review you got here. I’m excited to read this book as the blurb sounds interesting especially as a historical fiction! Reading history related novels opens up a new dimension and opportunity for an individual, a privilege to pry and experience the said era through the lens of the printed copy. It also awakens the imagination and urges one to dive more in what is history. Lovely book!

It is always good to get some background information on the characters and hence get to understand their motives and how they fit into the roles in a novel; I am happy that the author employed this strategy in the book. More importantly, I am also an ardent reader of historical fiction and would enjoy reading this, as it appears the author has perfectly blended fiction and historical facts. Many thanks for the amazing review, @Bethel Saint Bright.

Just finished The Last Rival: A Time of Our Choosing, and honestly, it stayed with me.
It’s one of those books that doesn’t try too hard and that’s exactly why it works. The story slowly pulls you in, and before you know it, you’re feeling everything the characters are going through.
It’s about timing, choices, and all the in-betweens that no one talks about.
Nothing felt forced — it was real, raw, and quietly powerful.
One of those reads that makes you pause, sit with it, and reflect. I’m glad I picked it up.

This review gives a very good idea of the book's content. This historical fiction is set after WW II and is an action-packed and energetic story. Real events are represented, and questions about honour and bravery are addressed.

Love how the author blends real events with fiction, especially Truman’s secret team and Operation Louveterie. I’m curious to see how they plan to take down Hitler. Sounds like a gripping read for history lovers. Congrats on BOTD!

Brilliant review! The way you highlighted the blend of real historical figures and fictional intrigue adds a new dimension to how we engage with history. Palmer's storytelling seems to make pivotal moments feel both urgent and timeless. I'm especially drawn to the emotional depth behind each character's motivation-it's not just espionage, it's about understanding the moral battles of the era. Thanks for sharing this-it's on my reading list now.

"The Last Rival" is a historical novel based on the World War II. Agents Jim Bolden and Lew Weinman are assigned to fight against Nazis, but during this process they are also trying to answer questions about themselves.

Palmer skillfully blends arts, fiction, and documented history to bring this pivotal period to life. The narrative is engaging from start to finish, offering a fresh perspective on a familiar historical conflict. This is a genuinely great read for both history lovers and fiction fans who appreciate a story that informs as much as it entertains.

Thanks for this detailed review. It’s interesting how the author mixes real events, like Truman’s rise to power and the CIA's creation, with a made-up mission against Hitler. I like that the characters are introduced with enough depth to understand their roles, and Weinman’s line was bold and showed personality. Definitely sounds like a well-written story that history fans would enjoy.
