Even though I've always been fascinated by the legend known as Marilyn, I really don't want to read about her playing Cupid Fairy Godmother, so I'll pass.

I like how the story’s main character is a plus-sized young woman, especially given the era, the industry, and the fact that she was the assistant to Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe has often been associated with not just beauty but also body positivity, so it will be interesting to see how Penny’s self-image was affected by working in the film industry (even if it was just as an assistant) and by being so close with Marilyn Monroe. The review does make me want to read the book. At first I thought the story will revolve around Marilyn in her perspective, but looking at title, it does make sense that it will come from the point of view of Marilyn's friend. A good mix of real-life events and fiction are always a welcome addition to my reading lists. Looking forward to this!

I like a good historical fiction story. Since this is more recent history, many should be able to relate to it. Even though Marilyn’s story is still mysterious, those surrounding her would be an even bigger mystery. It sounds like a well written story with an interesting plot.

This book promises to be an engaging read. I like the idea that it does not center on Marilyn Munroe, but on regular people who struggle with their own issues. I think the fact that one of the main characters is plus-sized is an interesting fact, in a world of 'perfect' individuals. I've added this book to my bookshelf because it seems to have an intriguing storyline. Thanks for a great review.

Penny is a character I can relate to. She has a wonderful caring 'family' at Trudy's boarding house. They take care of each other. I was hoping that the preview would tell more about the interactions with Marilyn. I'm putting this one on my list to read as I'm intrigued and want to read more. Who is this charming man Penny is about to meet?

Marilyn Monroe was a very controversial person and this a uinque #BOTD that focused on someone that wasn't romantically involved with her. This was an enlightening review.

I like the premise. Marilyn is still a fascinating character and a fictional account of a friendship with her sounds very interesting.

This sounds like a wonderful historical fiction revolving around Marilyn Monroe. I love that it takes place during the filming of Some Like it Hot. Congrats on the book of the day. Great review.

At first I thought the book was going to be about the narrator's relationship with Marilyn, which I think is pretty close to what it really is about. It seems like it's about the life of someone from behind the camera, and one of those that was impacted by Marilyn. It's quite interesting, and the author did well in writing it too.

Good review. I can’t wait to read about Penny. It sounds interesting and to know that I have been at hotel it’s fascinating to compare it to what was written.
