That is interesting that the author can bring out the Aussie and British dialects in the book's characters. I like the new vocabulary that he adds from different languages. One new word for me that I noticed in the sample was "bailiwick."

I haven't read the first books but they all sound interesting. This book seems particularly action-packed with murder and robbery. I especially like how developed the characters are.

It is fortunate that the book can stand on its own as I'm sure there are many, like myself, who have not read the others in the series. It sounds like you really enjoyed the book but a real shame that the author did not research the language fully and ended up using an unacceptable term throughout the book. Unfortunately, this does not sound like a book that I personally would enjoy so it will be going on my "not interested" shelf. Thanks for the informative review.

First thing first. Thank you for insightful review.

In the OnlineBookClub platform, the Warramunga trilogy has received high acclaim. Although it's not my cup of tea. I usually avoid action-packed novels. It's nice to know from your review that the third installment in the series can be read as a standalone. Maybe I will try reading it.

An action-packed historical adventure that includes kdnapping, theft, and murder. Though it’s the third of a series, it can stand on its own.

I love when books show accents off well! This sounds like an interesting read for some people, but probably not for me. I don't tend to like books about rescue missions.

Thanks for the lovely review, but I'm no more interested in this Warramunga tale than I was in the first two books due to my dislike of historical fiction as well as the locations in these books (Malaya in this one). The plot for this one in particular doesn't really grip me either.

The plot doesn't really appeal to me, to be honest.
However, I think your review is excellent. You mentioned all the strong assets of the book, and I appreciate that you took the time to call out the racist term you found, as well as mentioning if the plot is graphic or includes profanity. These things don't bother me particularly but I think they can be quite important for some readers.
