The plot sounds intriguing. It seems Beth's reason for becoming a nun is survival. I wonder what happens in Haiti.

The story does sound intriguing, and I am a fan of historical fiction! Other than Beth being a teenager, the review didn't say exactly how old she was when she left her Aunt Simone's, but that would take courage no matter the age! I am curious about what happens between Beth and Rene. Thanks for the excellent review! :D

I have read this book and I completely agree that it's very interesting. It gives a true perspective of life ups and downs. Politics doesn't spare religious institutions. We witness the innocence of first love, trials, temptations among others. Great review.

Deceitful survival made me understand that we can't be forced into anything, we need passion and self determination to achieve whatever we want to achieve in life. Kudos to the author. Congrats on BOTD.

Sounds like an interesting book. Read the first chapter and it definitely has an interesting plot. You are dropped immediately into dramatic scene after the introduction.
I felt for Beth. She witnessed something that no child should have to. What an emotional trauma to endure! And being coerced to cover up the true by her father.
I look forward to following Beth's journey.

Both the title and the cover captured my attention. Now, having read your review, I know I want to give this a go. Whilst today I love action, this sounds like it is moving at a pace and discusses things that remind me of my old favourite which I read as a young(ish) teenager... Strangely enough, that also had religious figures but not so much religious theme.

Thank you for such an informative review! :)

How true to life this book is! I am very sure that there are many temptations for nuns and priests to leave their vows behind. This novel, based on true events, is an interesting mix of religion, history, and romance. Wonderful review!
