A Police Action by A. A. Freda is a historical fiction novel. The story revolves around war and romance. This page-turner comprises a total of approximately 363 pages.

James Coppi, who has been drafted to the U.S army and assigned to go to the Vietnamese War, falls in love with Samantha Powers. Later, he learns that the lady is expectant but not with his child. Samantha explains her situation to him that the pregnancy was unexpected let alone wanted. She, therefore, wanted to abort the child even though her consciousness was against it due to her religious upbringing. Since Samantha had a financial constraint, Coppi decided to chip in to help her out of the condition, something that made her develop deep emotional attraction toward him. Coppi soon went to the Vietnamese War leaving Samantha back in Colorado in an apartment he had rented her. Will Coppi survive the Vietnamese War? And if he does, will he continue staying with Samantha?

The way in which A. A. Freda has written this novel is both unique and interesting. He uses the third person narrative style using present simple tense. This enabled me to follow this story as if it is a live event. In cases of flashbacks, the author switches to past tense but with the same narrative style. Also, the author suspensefully alternates the narration of war at Vietnam with that of Samantha's life back in Colorado. This kept me engrossed throughout the text in anticipation of what would transpire next. There are also instances of military jargons usage and the author has done his best explaining them to the readers.

What I liked the most in this book is the author's portrayal of Coppi. The character is a very proactive man. I was astounded by his vast knowledge of how to make an extra cash. He seemed to always see opportunities of making money which he usually did nothing but seized relentlessly. Besides, Coppi's proactiveness saw him rise in ranks as a soldier faster than his peers.

All in all, there is nothing I disliked about this book. It was well-edited overall except for some minor errors I identified. However, the errors did not detract my overall enjoyment for the book. I'm, therefore, glad to rate A Police Action by A. A. Freda 4 out of 4 stars. I found it both involving and enjoyable. I recommend it to those who like romance and also would like to know more about the Vietnamese War. However, I discourage minors from picking this book due to explicit sex descriptions.
