Back To Serve Return of a soldier by CW3 Cesare Giannetti US Army RET.

In Back To Serve, Return Of A Soldier, the main character Nico goes through some very trying times. He battles with himself over being a retired Army soldier not knowing what is next for him and his family. Just when he thinks his fight is over he meets someone who tells him otherwise. With his family and himself now in danger, Nico has to make a life-altering decision, trust the woman who gives him the news that he and his family are in danger and find a way to fight this danger or choose to ignore her and just enjoy her company for the night.

I honestly have to say that I enjoyed this book, despite all the history this book gives, the author of Back To Serve Return of a soldier knows how to describe the scenery and situation in a very detailed way. I have been able to follow what is going on very easily and picture it in my mind to a T. Along with being good at making it easy to see the books world through Nico’s eyes, author CW3 Cesare Giannetti US Army (Ret.) a way of giving the reader a taste of what it is like being a soldier during times of war without having it come out too strong and in a way that makes it off-putting.

The story, Back to Serve Return of a soldier, would have been better for me if it didn’t have so much baseball history incorporated into the story. While some of the baseball history that is given is needed to give you a sense of what Nico’s relationship with his dad is like I feel that the history that is given that doesn’t relate to him and his dad was just filler. Along with too much baseball history, there was a significant amount of profanity in this book that at times had me, personally, wanting to put the book down.

I would like to point out that Back to Serve Return of a Soldier while for some, might not be for all mainly on account of a large number of curse words used throughout the book and the little bit of violence that is shown.

The biggest appeal about this book for me was the fact that it was written by a retired soldier. While reading the book more things started to stand out to me that made this book a must-read for me. Back to serve Return of a Soldier has a way of showing what it is like to be a soldier retired or otherwise, that just stands out. Not only do you see what it is like to be a soldier retired or otherwise the book puts into perspective just what a soldier's family has to go through. This book has strong wording as well. In Back To Serve Return of a soldier, the characters are built exceptionally well and are very diverse.

Overall I would strongly recommend Back to Serve Return of a Soldier to anyone who loves war history, baseball history, romance, and action books. This book has a little of everything in it. I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars.

“But It was then, on the ferry’s port side, as I was directly in front of her, when I looked up and saw her face, strong and true, that I decided I was going to do something more. What that something was I wasn’t quite sure yet, but that was secondary—the die was cast—for although I was out of the military and out of the fight, I had made the decision that in some form or way, I would go back. Back to serve.”
