Conflict On The Yangtze by Greg Kater, brings to the reading audience the thrilling tale of the duo, Jamie Munro and Jack 'O'Brien. These two who were both officials of the Commonwealth Investigation Service (CIS), received a request from their former boss, Johnny Cook, to unravel the mystery behind a smuggler's den operating near the Yangtze River in China. Reliable information suggested that the smugglers were cultivating fields of opium which they traded with the UK and Australia. The story takes the reader on an exciting reading adventure that involved not just these two men, but also the adventures of their loved ones, Carna and Sarah as they independently sought to unravel crime scenarios.

The storyline was well-plotted and each event intricately linked to the next. There was no difficulty what so ever in understanding what the story was about. It was very easy for the reader to grasp that the book is a succeeding story to another. Despite that, the story stood out on its own. I loved the way the author combined the events as well as the characters and made an even blend of both. Equal emphasis was made on all characters involved and a notable balance was created between characters and events. The story flowed smoothly from page to page, and I found no reading hiccups. The storyline was indeed engaging and left lots of values for the reader to ponder on. For instance, the story brought to limelight the beauty of friendship between siblings, in this case, Jacko, and Sarah. It also emphasized the importance of such sibling relationships.

The book was well-edited, and I found no errors. Each chapter was concisely written, making the story more engaging. It also sparked further, the curiosity of the reader.

I loved everything about this book. The action, mixed with lots of humor kept me engaged to the very end. There was nothing I disliked about the book.

I am rating the book 4 out of 4 stars. If this book were a movie, it would definitely be a blockbuster. Every page had something to offer.

I am recommending the book to every avid reader above the age of 16, who can understand and appreciate a good story. I must also commend the author for the decency with which the story was written. On this note, I can say that the book is safe for young people to read.
