Dagger's Destiny (Curse of Clansmen and Kings) is the second book in this series. This book had a really nice plot where a lot of interesting things happened. There are also a lot of twists and turns that I did not predict ahead of time. What is nice about this book is that it does give you different perspectives from a few of the characters.

This book takes over from where the first book stops, the end of the battle at the exchange where King Amren gets hurt. After the battle, King Amren accuses his daughter, Catrin, of treason. She is accused of helping the Roman enemy, Marcellus, while he was held as insurance for a deal that was taking place. Catrin and Marcellus end up falling in love and are ridiculed for their relationship.

As Catrin is accused of treason and locked away she realizes that King Amren is serious and would not hesitate to behead her, as that is the custom for traitors. She knows that she has to do something drastic to prove her loyalty to her father. She proposes to him that she will become a fierce warrior and fight for her King. With this proclamation, King Amren decides to give her a chance to prove herself. However, she has one chance to prove herself to him. Can she come through on her promise and give her father complete loyalty above anything else, including her love for Marcellus?

However, there is another contingency to Catrin keeping her head. Marcellus has to agree to do something that involves betraying his people and most of all his own father. When Marcellus is put to the test will he be able to comply with what King Amren is asking of him? Can he even keep Catrin safe knowing he has promised to be her Apollo and always save her?

While I read this book I thought that there were a few scenes that confused me a little bit because so much was going on in the scene. Also, the timeline for a couple scenes I had to reread because I did not remember reading the skip in time. Overall, this book kept my interest and I was eager to find out what happened next throughout the book. This book provided an interesting read that gave you multiple emotions as you read.

There were a couple of scenes in the book that were vulgar in context, but Linnea, the author, does a good job of just giving you the image so you can see what happened, without giving you all of the gory details. This book does end you on a cliff hanger and I cannot wait to read the next book to see what happens next and what adventures await these characters. Catrin, I am assuming, is going to have to go through a lot in the next book which I am excited to read and take that journey with her as she has already been through so much already. Overall, I would give this book a 4 out of 4 because I was kept on my toes for the next thing to happen and there were a lot of play on words and twists in the book I was not expecting.
