The first person narration really gives depth to this novel, alongside actual historical events. It also focuses on the women's role in the society during the war period. Great read!

i believe Martha found herself fighting different wars at the same time. From trying her best to fit into society so she could be acceptable and appealing, to standing up to the males in a male dominated industry, and to also being true to herself and trying her best in the ways that she can to cause change without forgetting that the world war II was just right at the corner.

This book has all my favorite themes. Being a working female, I can relate to the protagonist's struggle to cement her importance in a male dominated work force .

I really enjoyed the start to this novel. It is quite interesting that though this story is set in the aftermath of World War II the themes are still so relatable: a woman trying to succeed in a male-dominated environment, dealing with the unwanted attention of a superior and the challenging romance of lovers who are far away from each other. Thanks for a great review.

Love and sabotage is book I see that portrays partly gender equality. Despite advances made by her boss and her fiancee away at WWII, she was able to keep her job. Excellent book.

The main character, Marty, sounds like a good representation of many women who worked outside the home during WWII, who had to face sexual discrimination, separation from their loved ones, and trying to make it in the workplace.

Wow, how amazing the role Marty played in protecting her gender equality. Yes, I agree with the review that the Fear of losing one's job from denying advances from a boss is not something we feel today, but back those days, it was always the main issue, and there was criticism that a lady couldn't do the jobs men does.
Thanks for the review and Congrats on making BOTD

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction story following Marty, a female reporter, during WWII before the fall of Japan and who is engaged to a Marine pilot. While waiting for news from her fiancé, she is working to become a great reporter. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

This is such an interesting time to set a story in. There are numerous stories set during the war and in its aftermath, but a story set when everyone thinks the war is over, yet Japan is still hovering is such an awesome idea, and Marty provides duch an interesting perspective on that time!
