Sandra Eden is an exceptional agent to the British government. Her sole purpose in Nazi-occupied France is to destroy their modes of communication and supplies. This will weaken their hold on the town of Normandy. She is also required to organize the French resistance. The allied forces coming to France to help overthrow the Nazi regime will collaborate with these Frenchmen to free France. Her operation is not without drama as she narrowly escapes death when her parachute fails to open following her drop from the Lysander. The special operations branch back home in England sends a replacement to stop her on sight fearing that she is an impostor. Fortunately, this is not necessary and her mission continues successfully despite several minor hiccups.

This heroic account has a healthy dose of adrenaline that keeps you glued to its pages. The themes of patriotism and humanity hang heavy across the pages. The female operatives give a feminine touch and you cannot help but fall in love with their presence. They are beautiful but dangerous. Their male counterparts are left in awe of their prowess. From the narrative, it is clear that Winston Churchill was truly able to set the whole of Europe on fire.

I loved the storyline and the flawless plot. It was very engaging and captivating right from the start. The humor does not fail you and the inhumane acts of the Nazis leave you appalled. I considered it a worthy read. Despite all of this, I felt it was too rushed. I would have enjoyed it even more if the storyline was a bit longer. Regardless, the plot is a definite page-turner. Sandra is a great female model of beauty and brawn without the stereotypical cold-blooded assassin theory. She’s a character to love and a protagonist to adore. She’s resourceful and brave. She earns the respect of her colleagues from her impeccable leadership, not from favoritism and that is like a welcome breath of fresh air. Michael Low simply takes the idea of feminine and strong to a whole different level.

I would recommend this to lovers of action-themed spy novels. It is also very suitable for people keen on the idea of female empowerment. It is a big no-no however for the romantics. It does not revolve towards romantic liaisons of any kind so they would be in for a huge disappointment. Sandra Eden’s War by Michael Low is an inspirational read for young girls and their male counterparts. Nevertheless, the novel will leave a book club completely engaged. It has multiple themed approaches that give an inside working of the Nazi German administration.

I give it a 4 out of 4 star rating. Michael Low has delivered a classic without making it sound clichéd. That is an amazing feat. He continues to offer details without giving away the book’s mystery. This is one of the most amazing things about this novel. The reasonableness of the characters is something to die for. It reminded me of other counts of female spy movies like Jennifer Lawrence’s Red Sparrow. It is the type of novel I would give to my friends.
