Sandra Eden's war by Mike Low is a novel about a female SOE agent named Sandra. The book centered mostly on Sandra but also relayed what challenges secret agents faced at the time of the German attack on France.
Sandra is flown into France by a 'Lysander', and as she faces a high risk of being captured if the 'Lysander' makes a landing, she has to make a parachute drop into an open field. However, her parachute becomes faulty, and she falls freely from the sky. She almost dies from the fall but gets saved when she falls into a tree which cushions her fall. A very bruised and wounded Sandra drops into France and would later face angry and ruthless German soldiers, leading the Maquis on very dangerous and deadly missions. Sandra would at one time go all out, seeking revenge against the German soldiers, rescuing comrades, and eventually get captured by German soldiers.

Sandra Eden's war has a host of memorable characters that stick firmly to mind. One of them was Michel who helped Sandra after her faulty parachute drop. After this opening encounter, Michel and Sandra became quite close allies teaming up for almost every mission that Sandra had to go to. And it was to his house that Sandra ran to after escaping from the German prison where she was being held.
Michel was a loyal and trustworthy friend of Sandra's and sometimes through his numerous thoughts about Sandra's bravery, he tells us more about the person of our heroine. Another significant character was Nancy Lake. She was sent to France to replace Sandra after everyone had thought Sandra died, following the unsuccessful parachute drop. Nancy Lake was similar to Sandra in many ways. They were both strong and brave. Both women never allowed their significance in any mission to be overshadowed by the fact that they were women. Nancy Lake was very smart and quick to action. She was an epitome of courage and was very daring.

The storyline was very concise and straight to the point and I loved it. Every action and dialogue was concise and short enough to keep the reader in adequate suspense and long enough to satisfy the reader's curiosity. The plot of the book really did a lot to help me appreciate the efforts of soldiers working and risking their lives to ensure peace reigns. The book depicted enough for anyone to get an insight into what it was like to be an agent during the time of the war. So, we can actually be grateful to anyone who put their lives on the line to ensure the freedom and independence of whatever country we are in.

Overall, I give the book a 4 out of 4 stars rating, because of the concise storyline and the setting of the book. I saw no grammatical errors, so I believe the book was professionally edited. The book will be most suitable for anyone looking to get a little insight into what the life of an agent feels like. For people looking to feel and experience solid and absolute female leadership, then this is the perfect book!

Yes! It does, but I think the characters are mostly fictitious. However, the story of the German attack on France is mostly true.
