Sandra Eden's War by Michael Low is set during the time of World War II. Written about the Special Operations Executives (SEO's) that served in occupied France, this work highlights the contribution of women in the service during World War II.

Although this book is placed in the genre of fiction, the author was inspired to write this after reading several accounts of SEO operatives during this time. Even being loosely-based on true stories adds the element of authenticity to this tale and makes it more appealing. This attention to detail will please readers with a discerning eye toward historical accuracy.

The story begins with agents parachuting out of an airplane at night over France a few weeks before D-Day. As the pilot circles around, he is alarmed to notice that Sandra's chute hasn't opened. Will she survive the jump? Is there a way for her to get her parachute to function? To find out the answers to these questions, you'll have to read the book!

The writing style used in this book is clear and concise without being cold. The author can grab a reader's attention early and hold it through to the end. The suspenseful scenes are well-written and are what I liked most about the book. Although I don't usually go in for war-suspense, I enjoyed being captivated and held on the edge of my seat during the reading of this book. It had the feel of the old movies I used to watch about this time-period.

Character development is superb in this story. I liked how each character introduced has a tangible contribution to offer the work as a whole. All in all, the structuring of this tale is fast-paced and pleasing all the way through. The storyline is well thought out and carries the right amount of mystery without giving too much away.

I could find nothing to dislike in this book. It is a full-fledged adventure packed with danger, intrigue, and suspense that grips a reader from the beginning. It is exceptionally edited. I found no apparent errors in the book. For these reasons, I rate it with 4 out of 4 stars. It deserves no less. It will appeal to fans of historical fiction as well as war buffs who enjoy an authentic story. If you don't like stories involving women-war-heroes, this may not be the book for you.
