Review by Anthony__ -- Rescuing General Patton
In this book, I learned the motive of warring parties' goals, the prize of nobility, and sacrifices.
Rescuing General Patton is a fictional novel written by Curtis Stephen Burdick, a professional writer, researcher, and historian. In this book, Curtis Stephen Burdick explains World War II’s underlying meaning, mixing historical facts with fiction while using imaginative and alternate history elements. The book contains 117 pages. More than half of the pages described the thrilling theatrical experience with escapist’s entertainment. Also, General George Patton’s statements were referenced and summarized in simple terms. The author examined combat, regimentation (the strict discipline and enforced uniformity characteristic of military groups), mystery, and armament in his analysis. In the remaining pages, the author concludes his observations by giving the reader a broader view of what counted while fighting the German Nazis.
The book is very informative and thought-provoking. Every piece of information in this book has its meaning, starting from the book’s illustration cover to the ending part of the storyline. Also, I found myself nodding along, agreeing with the book as I read some of the author’s statements. Infusing the characters with the German language’s precision and authenticity left me with more careful thought that the author did in-depth research before writing.
I enjoyed the synergy between the army and the air force on Page 82 of this book. Major Pizzio’s bravery and selfless efforts for the troops’ survival under his command were terrific. Most of the lessons on incompetence are self-explanatory, whereas few require critical thinking to understand the author’s message. The use of military nomenclatures was apt, and the explanation of military terms was straightforward. My favourite highlights are Italy’s impact on World War II’s history and the media’s importance in warfare.
Although this fantastic fictional novel is a short one, it requires careful observations and the reader’s total attention to understand the author’s detailed tale. The book would appeal to people who desire more lessons on warfare, bravery, empathy, and leadership. Moreover, there is something for historian lovers; a statement of facts concisely written to describe the chronology of events and entertainment.
In conclusion, there is nothing I dislike about the book. It is well edited because I did not notice any grammatical or punctuation errors. One of the things I admire in any fictional book, irrespective of the number of pages, is the depth of knowledge displayed in the narrative. In this department, this book excels. Therefore, I am rating Rescuing General Patton 4 out of 4 stars.
