Out Of Saul~Paul by Ken Bangs is a fiction novel. Have you ever imagined the story behind Paul’s citizenship? Have you ever wondered how Saul was born in Tarsus and was still termed a Jew? This book offers you fictional details and details based on the work of research.

Belarus was the leader of the Roman Legionnaire Army that was instructed to stop the onslaught of the German Army. His team was instrumental in stopping the German. He did excellently well in the war and was rewarded with Roman citizenship. Belarus left the Legionnaire Army after the expiration of his enlistment. He stayed back in Gischala and married Salome, a young Jewish girl. The Roman and the city of Gischala were at war. Belarus had to leave the city with his wife and unborn child to escape the war. His escape led him to Tarsus. He was welcomed in Tarsus by the birth of his son, who was named Saul.

This book talked about fictional and non-fictional stories of Saul. Ken provided the missing pieces of stories of biblical characters in a way that readers will find interesting. He also did some research on the non-fictional characters he provided in this novel to the extent that he did not contradict any biblical fact.

I love the way this book was written with both fiction and biblical facts. It makes you even wonder if this is a work of fiction, especially the part of Belarus, Saul’s father. Belarus character was carefully crafted in a way that made it link well with the facts provided in the Bible. The author also used a writing style that is easy to read and understand. I love the way the characters were developed and used by the author. Belarus is my favourite character as he possesses great wisdom and strength that he used to guide his family through it all. I also love the way the author used words in italics to grant us access to the thoughts of all characters in the book. This made me feel for each character.

At the start of this book, I struggled to identify and adjust to the authors writing style. After reading a few pages, I adjusted and understood the story with ease. The book is not professionally edited as it has some minor editorial issues which I believe can be worked on. It also contained some minor errors. All these did not stop me from enjoying this book as it has educative and entertaining details.

Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I did not give it a 4 due to the reasons stated above. I will recommend this novel to lovers of historical fictions.

I was drawn to the book by the title. Personally, I have always wondered on how Saul was a Jew and a Roman. This book opens the doors to understanding that. Thank you for the summary and wonderful review.

I have long been intrigued by the various aspects of the Apostle Paul. I will pass on this book, however, because I don’t want to mix fact with fiction. Thank you for a great review!
