Congrats on BOTD. Looks like the Matters has gone through a lot of hardships, but it's good to know that they have the will to face their challenges.

This story is about the Matters family that has endured many tragedies over the years. Nuclear waste exposure cost the father his left vision and caused brain damage. The book follows his life and therapy up to 2020 when members of his family are exposed to and infected with COVID-19. One has to ask how much a family can handle with so many tragedies. Good review.

I enjoy historical fiction and this looks like I will have a good time reading it. I'll check it out at a later date. Great review.

This book focuses on the Matters family as they face various tragedies in their life. From a nuclear meltdown that caused Lou to lose his left vision to facing the crisis of a pandemic.

This book seems to have too many problems to gain a full rating. The author seems undecided about how to present the narrative given your encounter with the awkward combination of prose and numbering. Then there’s the inadequate editing. Third, it seems a little lazy to grab Covid-19 and Floyd and stick them in there: a guaranteed way to evoke sympathy because they affect and concern many people one way or the other either globally or in the U.S.

I was surprised to find this a historical fiction. Initially I thought that this book is a non-fiction because of the recent incidents mentioned. This would be interesting to see another side of the pandemic. Congrats on BOTD!!

This is a relevant book for most. It outlines difficulties any family can go through in so many ways including the ones mentioned by the author. What a marvelous job by the author. Congratulations.

I love reading well-written historical fiction novels like this one. I just like many things with this book: Enganging dialogues, creative development of characters, conversational writing style, its ability to evoke many emotions on a reader, and the like. I'll add this in my to-read list.

The book highlights the tragedies experienced by the Matters family. A nuclear meltdown in their town altered their lives and as they began to recover, the Covid-19 pandemic hit. This is a story of hope that will uplift many readers.

After reading the OBC review and the summary on Amazon, I’d say it’s still a bit soon to call this historical fiction. Still, I find it both brave and compelling that the author took on not only something like a nuclear meltdown causing a nuclear engineer’s disability but also a family’s life during COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter. Even though it sounds like the historical research could have been incorporated better, the book might still be worth a read. Thank you for the helpful review.

This is so timely, although I think it's a little to early to do a historical series for pandemic setting, or I might be wrong. Lol. I think I should better read this to know and understand the book. Thanks for this. I'm reall all for history. In fact, I'm literally studying it right now. Thanks

While the premise seems interesting, I don't think I have the courage to read it, as we're still going through the pandemic. Nonetheless, congrats on BOTD!

This is an interesting story though there were a lot of heavy emotions that will also hook anyone who reads.
