Review of Rescuing General Patton
The book, Rescuing General Patton is a historical fiction written by Curtis Stephen Burdick. In this book, the author creates a story about the US combat commander, General George Patton, during the Second World War.
The story begins with Julia Patton Walton, the granddaughter of General Patton, coming to John Harding while he was signing the copies of his newly released book. She hands over a package to Mr. Harding that was given to her by her mother. That package contained the deepest secrets of General Patton and an extraordinary event that happened with him in 1943. Mr. Harding reads the document and gets to know what exactly happened in 1943. If you are wondering what that secret is, then you will have to read this book!
Rescuing General Patton is a highly engaging historical fiction that contains 197 pages divided into 21 chapters. Since this is about the Second World War, it has a lot of action and war scenes. This book gives a very realistic picture of the condition during the war times. The author’s writing style is simple and eloquent that makes it easy for everyone to read.
I highly appreciate the author’s imagination and creativity. Writing a fictional book based on actual history is not easy. But the author managed to do this extremely well. I liked the character of General Patton. He is truly smart, dedicated, and brave. The author has given real details of the war. It seemed like I was witnessing the scenes while reading the book. Though this is not classified as a pure suspense novel, I was inquisitive to know what is going to happen next. Every scene was written down amazingly well. I was especially thrilled while reading the scene where German soldiers carried General Patton to the headquarters building. I was very curious to know what was going to happen next. I also liked the characters of General Bradley and Pizzio. They also played a crucial role in the story. The best part of the book is where the author describes the arms and ammunition. One gets to learn a lot about the war and the weapons used during those times.
Overall, I had a great experience reading this. There is nothing that I disliked about this book. The book seems to be professionally edited, as I did not find any errors while reading. With that being said, I rate Rescuing General Patton 4 out of 4 stars. I do not have any reason to rate this any lower.
This book does contain profanity. I highly recommend this book to people who enjoy reading historical fiction and stories of war times. This book is not suitable for people who are sensitive to blood and war scenes.
