I find it interesting to see how this story deals with the time of the Roman Empire, it's good to know that the author took the time to develop these aspects. I'm intrigued to know what happens with Theona and her father, does her brother show up, will there be a plot developed between Theona and Marius? I already want to read this book. Thank you for this lovely review.

Historical novels and wars are not my favorite genre, but from your review it seems that it is written attractively and contains historical facts documented. Thanks for your review

I don't read many historical fiction, but this one sounds appealing to me. The historical background, well-written characters and additional details make me curious. I hope to read this one day.

“Forgiveness is the best revenge. Forgiveness alone allows you to keep your freedom, and it has the power to change everything, even the hearts of our enemies. This is just one more battle we have to fight on the battlefield of life. With God there is always hope and a future.” Sampling the book, these words of Pastor Rhodus caught my eyes. His words to his flock after losing many of the innocent lives in the attack of Huns on the Christian community. How do these words pan out for him and for his own in this historical fiction of war and love? Your review is good and captures the narrative and its lively characterization well. I think I will put this on my reading list.

This is a great historical book. I would like to see how the author managed to include both war and love in the book. Congrats on making the book of the day.

I think this book would be great for teenagers. I love that the main characters are young people. I would love to read what love unfolds. Great review.

I always love Historical fiction, especially when they are well-written, meaning all the events and cultures mentioned in the book are historically accurate, if not all, then most of them are. I also love it when it is very descriptive, it's because it feels like I'm going to a whole new world of era and people. I hope this book won't disappoint. Thanks for the review!

A Shield in the Shadows by Cheryl Bristow is historical fiction novel, a war story that outlines a conflict between pagans and Christians. I can't imagine what Roderic must have felt. He was caught up between the loyalty to his father who hates Christians and the girl he loves, who is a Christian.

This is a beautiful historical fiction story that sounds very related to the experiences of most in the past particularly the war aspects. The author seems to have brought those to life. Great review.

I'm not a fan of historical fiction set in the distant past like this one. However, I appreciate that the author provided several historical facts, explanations, and details, including maps and a glossary. Fans of this genre will enjoy it.
