A failed parachute jump into occupied territory, a few days before D-Day, sets the pace for this tale.

Special Operations Executive Agent, Sandra Eden, has a Roman Candle experience when she jumps from a plane into occupied France, leading the authorities back home to believe that she has died. Alive and bruised, she sets out to complete her mission, which is to create chaos by sabotaging key points that include bridges and railway lines, without being captured or killed by the Nazi forces. As her mission begins she is met with a lot of doubt by the male resistance members because of her gender, making her task even more difficult. Will Sandra succeed in convincing the Maquis that she is worthy of leading their resistance?

Sandra Eden's War by Michael Low is a riveting piece of historical fiction that vividly brings to life the struggles of the resistance movement in France during the Second World War in 1944. The character of Sandra Eden highlights the pivotal role that women played in the war and presents the fact that they were not merely loading guns for the men and caring for the wounded and dying. Sandra takes the lead by orchestrating acts of sabotage as well as physically leading the team on many of the missions. Michael Low has created a strong female character that steps up to every challenge and manages to convince even her staunchest doubters that she is up to the task at hand.

What I liked most about this book was the way in which the plot came to life, conjouring the feeling of having to hide and fight, not only for survival, but also for the sake of the freedom of mankind. On many occasions I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat, chewing my nails, hoping that Sandra would survive the ordeal.

This book is an excellent choice for people who love historical fiction and appreciate the sacrifices made on their behalf by previous generations and I highly recommend it. It is obvious that the author did in-depth research and hence produced a true work of art that manages to captivate the reader till the very end.

I could not find any fault with this book, although I think it would have been nice if an index had been included, but that is a personal choice and it doesn't hamper the perfection of this work in any way.

This is truly a book that deserves the highest rating, and because the editing was of the highest quality, I have no option but to give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars and I will be reading some of the other works produced by Michael Low in the near future.

This is an enjoyable and riveting read. Stories of the struggles in France, during the Second World War in 1944, in the wake of Hiltler's attacks in Europe is definitely a brilliant premise. Thanks for this incredible review!

This sounds like an entertaining and realistic adventure story. I like the way you described the many challenges that Sandra was faced with. I'm sure that being a female operative during that era was difficult.

Thank you for your excellent review.

Generally, I don't read historical fiction but this kind of story set during World War II intrigues me and this one seems really well developed. Thank you for your great review!

I think it's great that the protagonist of a novel full of action and placed in a historical and war context is a lady. Thanks for the good review.
