James Coppi is drafted into the US army for a two-year term in service after dropping out of College. He had only ten months left in service when he was summoned to report to Fort Carson Colorado. To his surprise, the same unit was being deployed to Vietnam. Just before James Coppi leaves for war, he visits a honky-tonk in Colorado Springs where he meets the most gorgeous thing he had ever seen, Samantha Powers. After a one night stand with Samantha, James learns quite a lot about her, perhaps her pregnancy with another man was what struck him the most. When Samantha says she does not know what to do with the pregnancy, James offers to help her. Had James has already fallen in love with Samantha? Maybe not. James had just left a furious and very disappointed woman back home because with the war ahead, he could not promise her a future with him, or so that's what he thought. Is he going to do the same with the gorgeous innocent Samantha? Will he make it back to her after the war? And about the "her", will it be Samantha or the other woman? Get yourself A. A. Freda's A Police Action to know more.

A. A. Freda simply knows how to do it when it comes to balancing the details of a scene and progressing his plot, if it's not perfect in this book then it's almost perfect. His style of writing is good. He uses long sentences which are occasionally twisted and appropriately loads them with expressions. Freda has a good grasp of the events that took place in the second Indochina war, this can even be seen through his choice of vocabularies, they effectively bring the reader into a typical war of the middle twentieth century setting. He aligns his ideas in a consistent manner even when switching between the characters in different places, this gives the plot a beautiful flow.

I love the way Freda gives detailed and picturesque information about his characters or scenes, this coupled with the fact that he writes the story in present tense makes the reader feel like he or she is right there watching every move the characters are making. The characters in the book A Police Action are well developed. Freda depicts his characters in a unique way, he makes there distinct traits very obvious to the reader, yet at the same time gives the reader the feeling that he or she doesn't know the characters that well. He writes about his characters with an impressive amount of passion, he heightens their emotions so well. He makes it easy for the reader to connect with the individual characters and feel their tension, love , hatred, satisfaction, disappointment and much much more. This makes the reader consequently attached to the characters, or perhaps the reader becomes vulnerable to character manipulation.

You will love James Coppi, perhaps when he is with Samantha. Meanwhile he is a ruthless manipulative opportunist who always turns every situation to his advantage. James Coppi does not seem to mind hurting people for the sake of earning a little more pay. He never gets to pay for his mean deeds either, in fact, whenever he is in trouble, he always finds a smooth way out. But the same can't be said about James when with Samantha. He is so soft, caring, loving and protective to her, maybe it's safe to say she makes him human, she brings out the good in him, and you will love Samantha for that, if you won't have fallen in love with her adorable features.

A Police Action is an enthralling and entertaining story, I loved everything about the book and enjoyed every moment I spent reading the book. I did not find any error in the book. It is exceptionally and professionally edited. I did not find anything to dislike about A Police Action. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. Enthusiasts of historical fiction books on war with a touch of romance will love this book, although I recommend a mature audience because of the quite well described romantic scenes.
