A Police Action by A.A Freda is a book about the experience of a soldier, James Coppi who was drafted into the army. James is a young man who believes he is a coward that would rather face war than face people in the real world.

While James was waiting to be shipped off to Vietnam for war, he meets a beautiful lady, Samantha, who teaches him more about himself than he could ever imagine. However, after weeks of a whirlwind romance with this girl, James develops cold feet and decides to quietly break the relationship, due to his fear of commitment. Rather than accept her fate and move on, Samantha decides she was not having it and would only accept his decision when he returns from war, leaving their relationship hanging by a thread. Will James return to her arms or chicken out like he always does? Follow this soldier as he navigates through war, love and life in general.

The first thing I noticed about this book is how much of a great storyteller the author is, because of the exceptional way he described details and characters in this book. It is hard to visualize war without thinking of hate, killings and violence. But I love the element of irony employed in this book, as the author infused a love story in the mix. This sort of doused the intensity of the war and helped in looking forward to every chapter.

Another thing I enjoyed about this book is the character development. One character I enjoyed reading about is the main character, James Coppi, who the author painted as someone admirable, despite his insecurities and flaws. I also enjoyed reading about the character known as Samantha, who the author painted as one with an enviable beauty, but also with her insecurities.

I loved reading every bit of this book and do not regret picking it up to read. Which is safe to say that I could not find anything worth disliking about this book. Although I found a few errors, this did not distract me from enjoying this book. I believe this book was professionally edited and would gladly rate it four out of four stars.

If you are an adult reader that does not mind reading war stories laced with a bit of romance, then this book will appeal to you. This book is not suitable for younger readers because of the profanities used in it, as well as the erotic scenes described in it.
