Based in Colorado, Specialist Fourth Class James Coppi has only had ten months to end his tour. James lives in a good apartment with his partner Sam. He met her at a dance where it was love at first sight for Sam. She knows he's always hustling to make spare cash but loves him, nevertheless. In the last six months of his tour, he gets sent to Vietnam. A Police Action by A. A Freda delves deeply into the Worries and problems of war, people continually hungry, and men eating rancid food sent by relatives because that is all that is available. Also, soldiers are constantly filthy, and all have lack sleep, often working while sleep-deprived. This book explores the realities of war from the soldier's side of things and the insecurities of families, wives, and partners left behind. The book's editing was great, as I saw no mistakes or typos.

I enjoyed this book. Sam is homeless until she meets James. All the characters were immediately likable, and I felt well researched. The report shows us the hardship, upsets, and casualties that war creates. The book was delightful to read, and the story flowed very well. You find yourself smiling when reading about James, he is a happy-go-lucky chap, and even during battle, he still manages to make some cash by selling cans of Coca-Cola to his colleagues. We see the camaraderie of the soldiers, and we know how the soldiers look after each other when injured.

I don't have anything negative to say about this book. Reading this story makes you think and appreciate all we have. This book also highlights the problem that still exists today of rehabilitation and issues with fitting back into society. Also, we explore the hierarchy within the battalion.

I gave this book 4 out of 4 stars as the editing was outstanding. It is historical fiction, and the research was well-performed, and the story is well-plotted. It is realistic. Conditions soldiers had to live and fight in were also kept accurate.

This book is suitable for people who enjoy historical fiction and want romance. There are foul language and sex scenes, so if you don't like profane language and awkward romance scenes, maybe this is not for you. But it is kept within reason and used to keep the story realistic. If you know someone who is not offended by such things, it will make a brilliant present.
