[Hemingway's Daughter ][/i] by Christine M. Whitehead is a novel that speaks to the challenge of being labeled a misfit and finding the courage to prove otherwise. Finley Richardson Hemingway ,the beloved daughter from the first marriage of her world-famous father, Ernest Hemingway struggles internally to rise above the shadow of her father. Born in an era when her beauty was deemed ugly, her intelligence was devalued in a male dominated society and experiencing true love for the Hemingway's was a self-acclaimed curse, the strong-willed Finley conquered all that was unattainable.

The novel transcends many common emotions presently experienced by different age groups from different classes of society regardless of the timeline. Christine M. Whitehead cleverly outlined and maintained the development of her four Hemingway family rules that guided her life which made following the story line easy and interesting. Throughout the book the bond a father holds with his daughter is apparent. Even though Earnest Hemingway had three sons from his first marriage, Finley, the daughter he yearned to have was the anchor in his life. The novel also captured the rigors of the writing process, with Earnest Hemingway the famous author showing his moods. The use of simple Spanish and French words made the writing even more appealing. [Hemingway's Daughter][/i] is a glorious work of art depicting female self-actualization.

There is a hint of domestic violence, abuse of alcohol which highlights issues that may be an unwelcome situation to some readers. There is some mild sexual content and borderline profanity of which sensitive readers can be made aware.

The book was well-edited, use of language and sequencing of events was very easy to follow, hence, I award this read[4 out of 4 stars][/b].I recommend this novel to readers who are searching to find their niche and especially to those who have encountered challenges in trailblazing a career and finding true love.
