It's painful when parents distance themselves and abuse a child. You can imagine what that can do to a child's mental and emotional wellness. I feel for Marshall. I'd love to learn more about his life experience and whether his relationship with his dad got better. I like how the author touched on relatable subjects. This will allow readers to understand the message conveyed in the book better. I will add the book to my reading shelf.

The way the characters were written and developed was excellent and contributed greatly to the story's development. The games' romantic undertones and sense of mystery added extra fun for me. Among the types of books I enjoy reading is fiction.

Reading your nice review, I think this book has a wonderful story and also a motivation message in it. Marshal Elliot, a man who had troubles at his childhood, with his friend who accidentally lived in his neighborhood, worked to improve the image of Yankees Baseball Club. Based on true event, I think this book will appeal to the historical fiction reader.

This is a historical fiction book about baseball.
I'm not a fan of baseball and I don't enjoy reading books about them but that wouldn't stop from recommending it to people who enjoy reading it.
Great review

This seems an interesting story set in the 60s revolving around the game of baseball; this novel also involves human emotions in an intriguing manner. Thank you for the succinct review!

This is a character-driven story of perseverance and growth about a young baseball player Marshall who forms an unlikely friendship with 2 other baseball players.

This is a wonderfully compiled piece, although for some reasons it doesn't pique my interest. Great review.

I love baseball. And this book seems to include many themes and wonderful characterizations. I would love to read the sample of this book to see if it's really worth the compliments it received

I enjoy historical fiction so much but not really baseball. I like the development of the characters and the story. This sounds really good although I might skip this. Thanks a lot for sharing tho.

Marshall Elliot is struggling for his father's love like many other children. He's doing his best to earn it. From this books review, I deduce that this is an exceptional book that I'd love to read. The characterization is also mesmerizing. I also love the fact that it is set in the 1960s. Congratulations to BOTD.

I'm a fan of historical fiction but certainly not baseball. However, I have a background in child welfare and protection, in particular. Although Marshall's isn't a classic case of abuse, it does present a parent-child dynamic that interests me.
