What does the word "sacrifice" mean? During war everyone sacrifices from their position, but some sacrifices are beyond the words. Keep in silence so long that we don’t know how many tears fallen silently and lost in eternity. To rescue general Patton, one of the most successful generals in US army history, from the Russians, there was no limit to sacrifices, as his capture could obviously change the outcomes of WWII. And for a long time, the story was untold, the sacrifices remain unfelt, the tears remain unwiped, and most importantly, the heroes remain unsaluted.

Rescuing General Patton by Curtis Stephen Burdick is historical fiction. An amazing combination of imagination with true events. I was deeply touched by the whole story. As the novel was about an army general, I learned a lot about US army rules. And I learned how many sacrifices a soldier has to face only to protect us from enemies. I felt it deeply when soldiers threw them instantly to grenades to protect others, and there was no time to feel their loss. The starting, the whole scenario, and most importantly the emotional and humorous ending touched my heart.

But I feared the rescue scenes. It was so destructive and emotional, that I have to take breaks sometimes to carry on properly. Sometimes I cried, sometimes I remained just pure silent, sometimes I just lost in deep thought. A lot of events but you couldn't blame anyone!  As the general said to Pizzio, the leader of this most suicidal rescuing mission in WWII history, “Can’t say I blame you. f****g wartime, son.” The chain of events is so instant, emotional, and destructive that it surely takes a strong heart to carry on this cinematic-style novel.

But I surely rate this book 4 out of 4 stars and recommend it to read. The good edition, the presentation of fiction in an outstanding realism, the suspense, and the climax throughout the story, the sacrifices make me bound to give me the highest rating.

You surely can enjoy this novel on a lonely evening and lost in the secret world of thrilling. And you have to be an adult or mature reader, whether you are a man or woman, and have a strong heart to carry on with this novel, to take part in your imaginations with these indescribable sacrifices to rescue general Patton. And after completing this novel, you surely do know, What does the word "sacrifice" means.
