Sophistries of Summer Days by Jenny Lofters will take you to an event-filled past full of energy, promise, and disappointment. The narrative is strangely relatable, and you can’t help but feel like you are part of the story.

The book will be quite the page-turner for anyone who appreciates a riveting and moving story that explores the strength of the human spirit during times of difficulty and uncertainty. Sophistries of Summer Days follows Cherrimina's life into adulthood.

At a time when nothing seems to be going as planned, two young women find each other and turn into great friends. Cherrimina meets an American called Dove in West Indies. This is a big change for Cherrimina, an innocent fourteen-year-old girl whose life mainly revolved around her mother and her Nanna (grandmother).

Still, the political situation at the time cannot be ignored, as global political temperatures are at a boiling point.

However, for Cherrimina and Dove, the friendship they have is bigger than the potentially life-changing events going on in the world around them. Strangely, just as things seem to be settling down, Dove leaves for America.

As if things couldn’t get worse, the Second World War breaks out, and Cherrimina is left dealing with the tensions that arise on her own. Eventually, she decides to escape to New York.

As fate would have it, Cherrimina is once again reunited with Dove, except for that fact that Dove is not the woman she once knew. For this reason, their friendship has to withstand its toughest challenge yet. Nevertheless, it is clear that the two women are forever bonded to each other by the experience they shared in West Indies before they parted ways.

The book doesn’t have a lot of negative aspects. However, if you are looking for a purely fictional story, then this might not be the book for you as it explores major global historical events in depth. That said, the book teaches pretty important lessons on friendship and overcoming adversity. So, it should be an exciting novel for lovers of all book genres.

I would give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because it is professionally edited.

I would mostly recommend Sophistries of Summer Days to fans of historical fiction, as they are sure to love the book due to its magnificent descriptive scenes and the unique perspectives it offers on major historical events. In fact, this captivating novel should be a satisfying read for any book lover.
