Review of The Jesus Diary
Much information about Jesus has been recorded, but perhaps specific details have been omitted. The Jesus Diary by Dave Mishur attempts to show the human perspective of Jesus and his interaction with people. The book contains the themes of faith, betrayal, and belief.
This book is a work of fiction. It talks about Jesus, a savior whose birth occurred in a place not fit for royals. It gives a detailed account of the miracles Jesus performed instead of the fast-paced records of the evangelists. The exceptional circumstance surrounding the birth of Jesus is what made this anonymous individual resolve to keep track of this baby right from when he was born. He was able to witness some of the miracles Jesus executed. He never spoke to Jesus, but he had the consciousness that Jesus knew who he was and the part he played during his birth. What emotions did Jesus exhibit as a savior in the form of man? Read this book to find out.
Dave presented this unique perspective of the life of Jesus intricately. For instance, the anonymous individual's role in giving water to Joseph, the father of Jesus, at the onset later serves as a reference when the individual could not get the coincidences of Jesus with water. The connection with just an action shows the author's effort to make the book relatable. The author gives everyone a personality, making it easy to differentiate them and understand their emotions. The book uses the first-person narrative, which builds a connection between the reader and the narrator.
I like the simplicity of the author and how he narrated the events. The book was partitioned by topics rather than the conventional use of chapters. This technique enables the reader to know what is to come. Also, I admire the introduction of the book and the way it reveals the narrator. My favourite aspect of the book is the part that talks about how to pray. I experienced a clearer perspective of the relationship between God and man through this outlook.
There is nothing I dislike about this book, although I would have loved to know more about the narrator's past before his quest. While reading the book, I encountered a few grammatical errors, but they did not hinder my reading process. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it defies conventionality and provides a fresh approach to the journey of Jesus while on earth.
In conclusion, I recommend this book to individuals who desire to know more about the path of Jesus. Readers will gain insight into what it means to experience something remarkable.
