Review of The Bridge
The Bridge by Andrew Palmer is a historical book related about the Iron Ring Ceremony to commemorate the deaths of the engineers and coworkers when they tried to build a cantilever bridge in the past. The situations in the book took place in the present time but there was a reverse to the past events that were the origin of this ceremony. This book will show you some perspectives about the career, the people’s thoughts, traits, behaviors, and actions. For example, you do not need to make a mistake by yourself, you can watch and learn a case from the outsider’s view and make it right before a disaster could happen.
The story will make you realize that being attentive and concentrated on your duties are a good thing but you have to be observative and see the truth of things in front of you without bias. That will make you reach a goal you have without falling over again. You would not be lost in your path if you see things clearly and truthfully. Everyone would like to get an opportunity, so when it comes, just make use of it and you will not have a regret in your life. Just be happy about what you are and what circumstances you face. Everyone could learn to be a better person without getting an expensive lesson. Experiences will make you stronger both your minds and actions. The book had both happy and sad situations which are related about family, friendship, effort, passion, and devotion throughout the story. The story did not tell about every character’s consequences after the tragedy of the bridge had occurred. It is a good thing that the author let you think about the consequences by your own. You could feel how the character’s emotions develop throughout the story even you did not see their expressions in real life. The devastated problem could come from a little cause which you might not even think about it. It is good that the characters could accept the consequences after the actions they had done.
There will be about some plagiarism issues in the school which is not a good thing to do whenever you are working or studying. Even though the characters in the present time were in their senior years, they still had some childish behaviors that showed they were too young and impulsive to make any good and right decisions.
Although a talking between friends were quite intimate but not that much intimidating. The story slowly continued initially, it might be hard to following up at first because there were more details to elaborate the behaviors of people in the past and present time, it contained only the necessary events after that. If you carefully read, you will find out what the author want to tell and share to you. He makes me think all kinds of situations that could happen, you will know once you have read it! This book was well edited. Not bad really! Because there are more cons than pros, I will give this book 4 out of 4 stars !
Anyone could read this book but I would like to recommend this to a teenager who wants to experience something new when you will be an adult soon. You can read the book in your free-time. Reading will definitely change your perspectives!
